I was having lunch in this restaurant, the location was a bit tricky to find as it is a bit far from the busy road. The place is very nice unfortunately we were limited to 1.5 hours only due to the special day. I tried Softshell crabs, Madrid Pasta and Iberica pizza. Softshell crabs is very small size served with french fries (optional), the taste very nice and crunchy covered with breadcrumb, The Madrid Pasta served with smoked chicken/Ham and wide fettucini with aromatic creamy sauce. The Pizza has thick chewy base, not too special but taste not bad.
A nice little hidden gem in West Auckland sharing the grounds with the Oratia Saturday Farmers Market. The building and indoor seating is not large but the outdoor area and alfresco dining is spacious.Had the lunch menu on a lovely sunny late winter’s day. The tapas menu is adequate – Ordered the bodega platter of assorted tapas comprising polenta chips, Aceitunas -olives and roasted garlic, Croquetas – chicken and Serrano ham, and Queso de Cabra crusted deep fried goat cheese balls in honey. Tapas were authentic and freshly made. Well presented and tastes as good as they look. The mainsenu for lunch was catered for light meals. No substantial meat mains. Ordered the Pescadores, Madri pasta and spaghetti Gamba. Enjoyed all the mains. The fish was well panfried and the tabouleh fresh, and made a great accompaniment to the fish. The spaghetti gambas was nicely balanced with pesto, fried shallots with fresh homemade pasta. The pappardele with creamy ricotta-like sauce could do with more seasoning but was good nevertheless. All that washed down with ice cold margarita, which made the whole dining experience most satisfying. Must go to try the dinner menu which looks and sound delicious. Judging by the lung offering, expectations are high.
Looks good and the menu looked promising, but didn’t execute well.. really lacked flavor, the fresh NZ mussels were just potted mussels from the supermarket and everything was super expensive for what it was. Management was quite uptight about everything not sure if it was just a bad day, but locking a mum and her kids in the car park because she parked in the wrong spot is totally intense esp because it would never be full.. Missing the relaxed kiwi attitude and platters that Artisans used to provide!
