Really lovely atmosphere close to the waterfront. The view is completely blocked by another restaurant, however the weather was spectacular and it was great watching passers by as we sat outside. The menu looked appealing and for lunch we ordered the pepperoni pizza and a couple of beers. Service was efficient and friendly enough. The pizza was below average as it didnt have enough pepperoni, and had wayyyy too much capsicum on it, which overpowered the flavor. The base was a little stiff and powdery, which takes away from the authentic Italian experience of eating a freshly baked pizza. Is it worth paying twice to three times the cost of a cheap takeout?… definitely not.

He very loudly and rudely insisted that it is impossible for the hair to have come from the kitchen, as if accusing me of putting the hair in there myself, and made it incredibly uncomfortable for my partner and I to remain sitting in this restaurant. Of course, it was disgusting and I was not able to eat a bite of the pollo fettuccine I ordered, and on the verge of tears being upset at the staff’s response, we got up and left. I offered to pay for the pizza that my partner only had a slice of, since the pizza was fine, but the staff insisted I pay the full bill with a 10% discount. When I said I couldn’t pay for food that I hadn’t eaten, he aggressively threw the receipt at me, yelling and asking me why he shouldn’t get paid while holding up the hair that was found in the food up to my face, again insisting it belonged to no one he knew. It was so shocking and horrific. Tonino’s was my regular Italian go-to and I’ve brought many of my friends and family here, but the way they dealt with this problem is unacceptable and unprofessional. I certainly will never return and strongly recommend you avoid Tonino’s for the worst confrontational nightmare service that is truly awful.
