Service can sometimes be slow even if an e.t.a is given, but that is only because they are normally very busy due to their popularity with locals such as I. However that doesn’t affect my review at all, 4.5 because the deep fried fish can be a bit too oily and there can sometimes be much more batter than there is fish. Other than that food tastes great, burgers are good for the price and chips are pretty tasty too. Chicken fried rice is phenomenal.
Good food. Just have to wait nearly a whole hour for it as they seem to take their time cooking. Still keep coming back though, but once in a blue moon. Wouldn’t recommend if you want your good fast.
My partner and I decided we would try this place after a recommendation by a friend. Our order consisted if chicken chow mein, chips, potato fritters, hotdogs and a hamburger. My partner said the cheese burger was pretty good for a takeaway joint/for the price, it was packed full of fresh lettuce and heaps of onions! Potato fritters we ordered two but got three, if one is small they will give you an extra – bonus. The hotdogs were nothing to special just the same as all other places. The chicken chow mein was alright too! Would definelty return 🙂
This isnt a place where you demand immediate 5 star service. This is a hole in the wall, local, well put together, ma and pa takeaway joint. The very old couple who run this establishment are incredibly friendly. Always smiling& they no matter what greet me with a vibrant hello. For all who complain about the sweet and sour pork go to lord of the fries or Dennys if you want those details. Im vegetarian and Im very much impressed by the food they have to offer me as a vegetarian. No many takeaways care for us vegy goers. So to see they have the best veggie burger just amazes me even more!! This spot is meant for the people who dont mind a bit of imperfection in their food. So what yall had to wait. They are old! Give it a break or find somewhere else! BARRACKS TAKEAWAY HAD MY LOYALTY & Id recommend this place to anyone!
This is our local and we love going here, the fried rice is really good and so are the fries. You get so much for the price. If you are wanting something quick then go early in the day because early evening, late afternoon there is a bit of a wait as they are very popular especially during the weekend.
Food is always good, they consistently tell you it will be 15-20 wait time but rarely is, can be up to 45 minutes depending how big your order is or the time of day.
Sweet and sour pork yuck too much batter. Looks like sweet and sour batter.Need to work on time management . Placed order 1/2 hour before going in wasn’t ready.
