When I got there which was around 11:05 am the pie cabinet was looking rather slim already due to demand.Managed to get myself a steak and cheese pie, the pastry was a little stiff for me but the filling was as expected, thick with beef gravy.Showstopper: Value for your money.Overall Grade:B+
This bakery is all about the $3.50 steak and cheese pies. Big, fluffy pastry, tasty gravy with good chunks of meat that arent full of fat and gristle. The sweet stuff is ok, but those pies are superb value for money. Thoroughly recommend!
Cheap little bakery, you get what you pay for however that’s not a bad thing in this instance. I am never disappointed because lunch for two usually costs me less than $10. Service also good. Once I didn’t have enough change on me and they told me to pay it back another day – felt like I was a valued customer 🙂
In my series in pursuit of fine Steak n Kidney pies I must say their pie was worth the wait. This bakery is in Ellerslie near my mums place. On two past occasions in the last two year I have popped in to my their SnK pie. They dont make many and tend to sell out. However last week I did manage to get one. So far two out of two for Ellerslie. Both Marua Bakery and Julias Bakery in The shopping center both make top knotch SnK pies. Ample kidney good solid gravy and tender meat. No fatty chewy rind or mincy look steak. Great work $3.50 very reasonable.
