Came in for a Yum Cha brunch on mother's day. The deep fried taro balls were quite nice but the taro walnut rolls were even better. Highly recommended…

Certain dishes are good but the service is definately terrible. The waiter just asked what do you want and turned away without acknowledging us. When he put the plates on our table basically is call smashing plates. The worst one is the cashier. Never look at you at all, just took the order card from you and told you the amount to pay. No hi, no thank you, no goodbye. The workers here definately are unhappy and hate their job. Even nice food would be ruined by this kind of service.
A very nice experience! Had amazing dumplings and got to know what a yam cha is. A must try! It is a simple restaurant. It gets very busy so I believe you should book a table. The ambience could have been better though.
Local Cantonese restaurant. Have yum cha every morning. Environment was great, lof of space to seat, food have lots of choices.Service is average.
Sun World Chinese Rst. Is located in the heart of New Market. Dont expect anything glitzy about this Rst. Very streamlined exterior with Bold red lettering simple 80s signage planted above the building you really cant miss it The interior is dated and I felt like I was in that movie with Jackie Chan and Chris Rock where he does a really bad rendition of Michael Jackson on Karaoke Anyway it is what is a numbers game; see how many customers you can fit ahhhh-round table It did get Very cosy.Service was slow to start.. especially for yumcha these ladies were dragging their feet lol… but as soon as the Rst started to fill the carts of yumcha started to descend.Staff seemed happy or confused when Asked to describe what was available on each of there carts and in the end we guessed by looking at each dish Good assortment of dishes, selection of steamed fried dumplings, delicious fried shrimp wontons, spring rolls, taro rolls, rice paper filled morsels of yumminess. Everything was fresh, crispy and filling even the green beans was good cos you really have to have a veg dish lolPots of green tea was lovely helped cleanse the pallet for the next round of dishes. We ended our yumcha with flaky fresh custard egg tarts and a order of chinese ice cream that resembled vanilla version of chocolate rolos from the 80s.We came away bellies full and all agreed that it was Good not great… Staff need to be more on to it with clearing dishes and extra services such as replenishing tea pots of green tea and drink orders So is it value for money… definitely great value if you have a good group who are keen to split the experience at the end of the meal as we did Dont expect great service lol Ambience none But the company and atmosphere we created while dining-fantastic Lots of Paid parking close by Smoking outside of venue (kerbside)As Confucius say I went to Chinese Rst with suggestion Box.. Good variety of yumcha dishes and reasonably priced. So sad they don’t do egg tarts here though! Recommend the prawn dumplings and deep fried taro
We’ve been to there a couple of times. Yum Cha was fantastic. Lots of varieties and most of them are quite flavorsome. However we went to there for dinner once and found it was extremely expensive. Good place for Yum Cha though.
Came here for yum cha. We were seated and served immediately, food was also good. The trolleys unfortunately didnt come around as often as we liked, options were quite limited too, but its understandable as the place was pretty busy. All the staff were friendly and polite, one of the ladies had the sweetest smile everytime she came to our table. Near the end of their yumcha session the staff came around and took any specific orders of what anyone wanted to have brought to their table. Its a very good spot for yumcha, but i do prefer Imperial Palace in Mt Wellington more due to more options available, slightly cheaper prices, and more frequent trolleys coming around. But still one of the best places to go to in Auckland.
