Having been someone who love Japanese food, I have been reading what is happening online for new food space and ideas.I am delighted with the chose at Achos. A Japanese pub-food that have a huge selection of Japanese sake, whiskey and beer. The menu is full of traditional Japanese pub food in a different name. This is not the best part of place, its their daily specials that really blew me away seasonal food that changes everyday.Achos is situated in the St Kevins Arcade on K Road, not great if you want a carpark, but great if you are there for a fantastic night out. Achos only occupy a part of the arcade, with high chairs and tables. That open space is shared amongst other eateries, so if you have a friend who wants a burger or Lebanese food instead it is definitely a place to go to.They will give you a menu and you should definitely go inside to admire the alcohol that have in place, some very rare and hard to find Whiskeys is a must. This is a great place to share food and drinks with people you love. Not the traditional restaurants.

Nice place for a nice snack and drink. We stopped by after work for a bit before heading to dinner. The food menu does have a variety of different things to offer but they are fairly small, thus Japaneses tapas. Although small, it is fairly priced and just delicious. If you are only able to try one thing make sure that it’s the donut chips. The drink menu was also fairly extensive. It separates it out based on type – Sake, Whisky, plum wine and others. What we found was a sparkling sake with jelly which was amazing. One of the biggest issue is that it is quite small, only having a few tables scattered in St. Kevins arcade. So you need to get there early to be able to get a table. The table also aren’t very big but due to the nature of the restaurant that wasn’t too much of an issue. The service was good. Very friendly and when they forgot about one of our orders they said sorry with the matcha plum wine for the group. Make sure to check their facebook page before going to see what’s on special.

Popped into here for lunch as most of St Kevin’s was closed due to the summer holidays. The lunch menu is small (mainly just buns) but I was able to order off the bar menu (which starts at 3.30pm) without any issues which was great. I wanted to love the octopus ceviche – the avocado balances out the wasabi and the cucumber provides the needed crunch – but unfortunately I am an absolute wasabi wimp and couldn’t handle more than a few bites. The pork katsu bun is probably up there with the buns at Chinoiserie and it’s nice to see a Japanese take on it. Would be a great place to pop into after work for drinks & snacks.
