I had the Large Pork Paitan Salt Ramen with 4 slices of BBQ Pork. The soup is lightly flavoured and has a light creaminess to it. The flavour of the soup has a light umaminess to it which is not porky at all in my opinion. It is more closer to chicken soup with a background pork flavour to it. It is like with certain dishes, you don’t taste a certain spice but it is there which adds to the complexity of the overall flavour. Because it was suppose to be a pork base soup, I hoped it would be more porky. The noodle are good as always – thin and chewy/springy but it needs to be eaten as quick as possible as it starts to get slight soggy over time if you let it sit in the soup. The Cha Shu is slightly tough and dry but alright. I prefer a melt in your mouth kind of Cha Shu that has some fattiness to it but not too much and has been slow cooked to make it really soft. The ramen egg was cooked to perfection; soft egg white with creamy yolk which is commendable because some ramen shops in Auckland cook the egg all the way through till it becomes a hard boil egg which is not what I’d want in a bowl of ramen. However the egg lacked the soya sauce seasoning flavour.I would not eat this again as I prefer a richer pork based soup but I will be back to try their other ramens. For more food and travel reviews, photos and videos, head to @jyfoodieofficial on Instagram or @jyfoodie on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and Tumblr.www.instagram.com/jyfoodieofficialwww.facebook.com/jyfoodie

Got the pork based miso ramen and gyokai ramen. Extra meat is the way to go. Great for a winters night out and you want something to warm you up. Love the noodle texture and bowl full of soup which you just have to drink to the bottom of the bowl. Probably one of the few places in Auckland where you can get close to authentic ramen in Japan. Takoyaki is also quite decent if a bowl of ramen isn’t enough to fill you up.

The drink ramune is very interesting and I really enjoyed it. This place obviously specialise in ramen. Unfortunately it was a very hot day and didn’t have any air con or fans on. Food was very good though.
