i love this place….jenny the friendly owner has done well with what i belive are the best dumplings in the whole wide world……and the bbq lamb….devine….oh how i love to enjoy good quailty food……..dumpling ace is the place to go to. Treat your taste buds.
The dumplings were amazing. We even got to witness the dumplings being made as we ate them. Handmade noodles were nice but the soups are a bit on the salty side for me.
Food is 5/5. The lamb skewers are beautiful. Juicy, fatty, and a good quantity. The mushroom skewers are ok but not worth it for the price. The cold noodle salad and all their other dishes are tasty and comforting. Service is 3/5.
Amazing dumplings! Im sure they are some of the best in Auckland. I have had quite a few of their fillings, the pork,chive and prawn, the pork and cabbage, the lamb and carrot and one of the beef ones but cant remember which one. I have yet to try anything else on the menu but will definitely need to try and branch out.
Was craving for some dumplings so we popped in here for lunch. Ordered their beef noodle soup and pork&chive dumplings which came as steamed/boiled. A tad disappointed as I wanted it to be pan-fried but I guess it’s my mistake too for not telling them that when we ordered. However it’s still delicious, and I really love the texture of their hand-shaved noodles. Great for cheap eats.
One day my husband and I were on the shore (somewhere we don’t venture much), and needed lunch. Google recommended this place. Since it was in the Northcote shops, we decided to give it a go.My expectations were blown out of the water. Both noodles and dumplings here are good! We’ve been back a few times and also brought friends who also like this place now.So, everyone says this is the best dumplings on the shore. Imho, I actually think this is pretty much the best dumplings in Auckland. Skin was light but chewy, and still was firm enough not to break so that all of the juices were kept inside these parcels of yummy fillings…. just wish that there were more filling options, but actually in hindsight less options means less complexities in the kitchen for fresher meals so I’ll happily accept the tradeoff!As for noodles. I haven’t had noodles like this outside of this place – they are narrower than many other hand cut noodles. And the spicy and sour beef noodle soup is also I believe unique to this place since I haven’t had anything like this elsewhere before. Again, it could just be my inexperience…. But I LOVE it. I always wanna try their other dishes but it’s so hard to overlook this one.One more point of difference. Look at the chilli oil here! All chilli and not much oil. Not a heck spicy but fun to add to the dumplings/noodles to kick things up a little notch.Give it a shot you’ll hopefully not regret it 🙂
So yum! Been here many times and never dissapoints. The decor is not fancy, but it is a cosy and warm restaurant. Free tea upon entry which is always a bonus for me. They do not offer drinks but there is a fridge of cold drinks that you can buy from. I normally order their dumplings (pork and chive is my favorite) and their thin pancakes with the sticky pork. SO yummy! Price is pretty reasonable considering the portion sizes, and I always leave full. Fast service, tasty food and a nice local spot to catch up with friends.
