Buns were great!Would be nice if they re made their menu as we tried to order a few things that they don’t have.Dandan noodles were my favorite.
Great place to get authentic Chinese buns. Sometimes certain buns run out so you have to go in early. Usually, best buns are the ones straight out of the steamer – so ask if you can what has just been finished. The place can be a bit dirty sometimes so best to ask for take away if you dont wanna stay. Highly recommend this place for a easy cheap and delicious breakfast.
The vegetable bun is really good, but the pork bun didn’t have enough sauce and the meat was like bad pulled pork. The shiao long bao zhi were good, but not amazing like they are in Shanghai restaurants. And the sweet buns are no way near sweet enough and have too little filling, which was a big let down. Overall I won’t be going back. Northcote has so many nice chinese restaurants / takeaway places, but this isn’t one of them.
Used to come here all the time as a child. The buns are still as great as I remember. Really tasty, affordable buns with a range of different flavours.
Really good place for a quick cheap snack. Beef noodles pretty standard and the steam meat buns are pretty bomb. And cheap, xiaolong baos are also pretty devine.
Love the steamed buns here. Didnt come here for a while due to them getting an E grade. Glad to report that it is now back to A grade, better than the previous B grade they had. BBQ pork buns are still my favourite.
This is the nicest authentic steamed bun I had in Auckland! They are homemade and fresh every morning. I tried most of their buns (except the pork ones)and none of them disappointed me. Their shop are just small but always full of people and you can see many people buy takeaway. I like to enjoy the steamed bun with red bean soup or sometimes millet porridge. They don’t always have all the buns in the menu available so you need to go into the shop and they will display what’s hot and fresh currently. Definitely a good Chinese-style breakfast option.
