I visited Tantalus Estate for lunch with a group of friends and was thoroughly impressed with this beautiful winery. The decor is reminiscent of an Italian Villa with a chic, modern edge and oozes class from the moment you walk down the driveway. We did a wine tasting before our lunch commences and found most of the wines to be quite impressive. On the lunch menu, there was only one vegetarian option which didnt sound overly appealing but turned out to be very good. It was charred sweet corn with capsicum, tofu, nutritional yeast, rimu and kale, a strange combination of ingredients that somehow all tied together beautifully. We also ordered the potato bread (which was delicious), truffle fries (which were fairly average), a cheese board (which was fantastic) and a chefs selection of desserts (all of which were tasty but nothing particularly memorable). Overall it was a lovely experience, but I would like to see at least one more vegetarian option on the menu in the future.
