Dont even bother. The service was shocking, the lady serving us didnt answer our questions about the food (allergies) and when we went to pay she kept yelling if we had visa…. while holding our visa… I wouldnt usually care about service if the food was great but the food was like a slap in the face with soggy lettuce – underwhelming. And if you do go here – dont get the chicken burger or crab sticks whatever you do – threw away the burger bc didnt want to risk eating the pink chicken -1/10
Best sweet and sour pork on the planet?! They have an award from Hong Kong for their sweet and sour pork from some years back, but they are obviously still making it to the same award winning recipe. It is a crispy style battered pork with the classic sauce, not a ‘soggy’ batter like so many places do. They also make nice fish and chips and their locally known ‘Cheesybugu’ 🙂
Really enjoyed Grand Special fried rice which is quite different flavor with other shop ….. .Sweet sauce Pork were incredible, crunchy and delicious, the BEST one i’ve had in AKL. Good service, my grandparent live Orewa more than 20 years, they told us this shop is best one , their sweet sour pork could be adjust with customer requirement by cooking method , I love Crunchy, my grandparent love soft one.Curry dish so yummy,too! next time , try satay one!Will definitely go back!
Zero Rating. Came here some months ago and have been meaning to post a review for a while. The food here is just awful. Ordered sweet and sour pork that was extremely dry and tough, so much so it couldn’t be eaten. Won ton soup was awful too, won tons weren’t cooked properly. Owner refused to refund or replace, said an extra dish would be given free of charge next time upon ordering. There won’t be a next time, I will never be coming back.
My husband ordered lemon chicken last night – disappointed dry and overcooked – and tonight he thought he would try sweet and sour pork – so hard we couldn’t eat it – I rang to complain but the man didn’t understand me – so hence I’m here. not great zero rating will not be coming back especially after 2nights in a row – so much for my stress free dinners.
Tried the snapper, hoki, and kumara fritters. Owners seemed nice. Fish and fritter wasn’t actually that good as it was a bit dry. Other reviews were on the Chinese food will look forward to that next time.
Really good chips crunchy am gonna try the sweet n sour pork now cos of the other reviews…the cooks are really nice too loves a chat loves our baby chats to the baby
