An overall disappointing experience to say the least. I was Unhappy with the Service my party received, the wait time for our food and even worse the food itself in my opinion. The Otahuhu Food court in itself is a quaint eatery with many choices and cuisines to choose from, Seating is a plenty but the venue overall is a little shabby and worse for wear, don’t bring a date here if you’re trying to impress them. This place has a pretty relaxed setting, feel free to have a beer or glass of wine and try something you’ve never had before from different corners of the world. This establishment can do some things right, maybe I just arrived on a bad day, the Sizzling Steak meal for example, can be heard sizzling from the other side of the room and the meat tender and flavoursome, a dish of which another member of my party had ordered and enjoyed. I wish it were the same for me but no..I waited over half an hour for my Chicken Katsu Curry Rice to arrive while observing other patrons order after us, be served with cooked meals, eat and chat. I wish I could say nice things about my Chicken Katsu Curry Rice but I really really can’t.My Curry for example, was more of a spicy drizzle to mask the under cooked cabbage stir fry, instead of a main focus for my dish, I couldn’t even spare enough to coat half of my rice. The Katsu Chicken was a combination of soggily thawed pieces of bulk buy crumbed chicken that I chose not to finish because of the blandness with not having enough curry. The bowl of Miso was Delicious, a nice addition to my meal, I was able to cleanse my mouth of the abomination that it had just befallen. All that being said and in perspective, this place does serve good food that I have enjoyed in the past, I really wish my next experience will be a more positive one, This is a meal that I have never tried before but wanted something new and I don’t think I’ll ever get it again. it’s price was fair, $13.00, especially for the portion size.I believe the problem is either one or two things.A lack of staff/staff who can make multiple dishes at onceorThese guys just don’t care anymore.
I recommend this place if you are hungry and have a big appetite. This food court offers a variety of mainly Asian cuisine that’s cooked perfectly. I ordered a Beef Love Bento which has a bit of everything. If you are looking for something light and aren’t feeling hungry then I would recommend looking at the other dishes as this is quite filling and substantial. You get a bit of everything from sushi, to wontons, karage chicken on rice and then beef on rice.
Not many places sell sushi in Otahu, so props to these guys. It’s sold for $1 per piece and they will make it fresh for you if they don’t have any pre-made on the counter. Salmon and chicken available. Fillings are generous. Once it did take a while to get my 6 pieces of sushi (15 minutes?) but the quality was good and it came with ginger, wasabi and soy without me asking!
