Visited this restaurant today during lunch time (it was strongly recommended by the husband and he was recommended by the barber shop )Had the salmon avocado sushi ($7) and It was really nice and fresh with huge salmon pieces and avocado. Had the deep fried kumara ($1) as well and it made a perfect afternoon tea snack for me 🙂
The most authentic Japanese food in Papakura ! And it is super affordable! The 8 salmon sushi pack (which they named it Salmon Lover) was only at $8 and the chicken kaarage and prawn cutlet donburi was $10 each.Sushi was absolutely delicious, with thick salmon slice. The staffs are very friendly and nice. I always like to support little shops like this because I believe they devoted a lot of efforts in providing the best food&service to customers.Would definitely return soon.

Not all sushi is created equal. If you want genuine Japanese cuisine, prepared the Japanese way by Japanese people come here. The staff are so friendly and obliging and the food is delicious, well presented and very reasonably priced. Unlike St Pierre’s the meals aren’t full of a truly frightening amount of sugar. This is where Japanese people come to get Japanese food. Highly recommend traveling out of your way to visit Azumaya. ‘The Karaage is divine!’- says my wife Yoko.
The Teriyaki Chicken Don is delicious. Tried the sushi as well but it was a bit bland, and the miso was flavorless. The person serving took ages, and didn’t speak very good English. It’s a new place so will give them another chance as I really enjoyed the flavors of the Teriyaki Chicken Don
