Absolutely loved the dinner I had the other night here! From ambience to service it was spot on! The food here is made to share so you can try so many different flavours. Highly recommend the cauliflower dish and chicken dish I had. I cant wait to come back here and try some other dishes
Hands down one of the BEST culinary skills Ive encountered in Auckland. We ordered most of their menu to share between 4. From entrees we got: Lamb Kofta, Prawn, Pork Cheeks, Grilled Eggplant. From mains we got: Barbecued Pig, Barbecued Lamb Shoulder Kleftiko, Thigh of Chicken. We got broccolini for sides and also Greek Yoghurt Cheesecake and Chocolate Mousse for dessert. Been having a lot of outstanding meals lately, with another highlight at @geromeparnell . We tried 80% of their menu between 4, some not displayed in these photos. – Prawns (9/10) were an exciting punchy bang to start the meal, with amazing textures of crunch and juices bouncing around your mouth. – Lamb Kofta (8/10) very bold flavours and very herbal with mint coming quite strongly. – Grilled Eggplant (9/10) soft, juicy and melts in the mouth, its grilled and coated with a layer of cheesy goodness at the perfect flavour levels. – Braised Lamb Shoulder Kleftiko (10/10) one of my personal favourites, its insanely soft inside yet crispy on the outside, with a coating of mildly sweet glaze. What won for me was the yoghurt mixed with salad and jam on the side, which was SO GOOD idek how to explain so youll have to try this for yourself . – Pork Cheeks (10/10) so juicy and fatty but so fulfilling and not sickly, the skin is crunchy yet brittle and THAT SAUCE OK the Greeks are the masters of their sauces and we almost licked their plate clean from that kumara and Greek yoghurt pure. – Barbecued Thigh of Chicken (10/10) I have NEVER had chicken this soft and juicy ANYWHERE before my eyes literally lit up after a bite into it and juices just exploded in my mouth. The bean soup at the bottom is packed with flavour too and the crispy kale and spinach garnish added to the textures and flavours. – Barbecued Pig (10/10) again a perfectly cooked meat dish that oozes with juice. The acidity of the feijoa pure excites your taste buds and lifts the taste of the pork. – Greek Yoghurt Cheesecake (10/10) AMAZING! It was light yet dense and decadent, and aromatic passionfruit sorbet and passionfruit syrup drizzled on top was such a delight; we all loved the extra crunch added by the crushed biscuits! – Chocolate mousse (10/10) another outstanding dessert; this one is for chocolate lovers! Its more thick than mousse per se, more like Nutella but its very very good and the pineapple chunks worked unexpectedly well with the chocolate. Wait staff are extremely friendly and the interiors are beautiful! I would come here again to celebrate special occasions! Food: 10/10Price: 8/10Ambience: 10/10Service: 10/10Ill make another post about their dessert later Friendly staff and beautiful interiors too!
Where to start ! Came here with an earlybird voucher but was running half an hour late. Staff were so good about it which we really appreciated. Eggplant was probably the only dish I wouldnt rate too highly. Cooked nicely but not much flavour. The BBQ fish was so unusual it reminded me of Bombay duck. Delicious but difficult to eat as you have to debone it. Mind you the bones are very soft. The butter milk pitas are a must. Butterflied prawns were so-so – bit too mushy for my liking. The cheesecake was unique and delish and the Nutella doughnuts were also great. Overall the staff were so lovely and the ambience is great will definitely be back. Opa !
Excellent place all around!Must try the eggplant with gruyere! We also tried the fish of the day which was great too. Ordered the chips with oregano as well, those were average but I would go back just based on the eggplants alone. Ambiance and service were excellent too!
Do you notice how suburbs like Parnell, Herne Bay and Mission Bay don’t have supermarkets in them? There’s a good reason. People who live in these affluent areas don’t do grocery shopping like the rest of us. They dine out. And it’s restaurants like Gerome in Parnell that benefit from such clientele. These institutions survive by the affluence of their surrounding neighborhoods, not by their innovation or ability to excite, it’s all a bit yawntastic.Recently engaged and trying desperately to thwart our attention away from the Christchurch massacre, my partner took me out for a surprise dinner. Gerome was her choice, advertising themselves as modern Greek food.Taking full advantage of the First Table deal, we booked for 5:30pm for an early, 50% off the food bill, dinner.Entrees:Buttermilk Pita Breads served with Taramasalta, carrot Tzatziki and Olives – The Greek equivalent of breads and dips, nice, just nice.Heirloom Tomato, stone fruit, muscat vinegar basil and feta – A strange dish which didn’t gel well, it needed something to bring it together. Having a dish where fresh (green!?) tomatoes are the star of the dish so late in summer may not be a smart move as they were lacking in flavour, tomatoes have peaked already.Kefalograviera – peppered figs, northland honey – An intriguing dish with some lovely textures and a sweet/bitter rivalry fighting it out over your pallette.Mains:Shoulder of Lamb – melt in your mouth, you could carve this with a blunt spoon. Beautifully done. The carrot Tzatziki making another cameo appearance as a condiment to the lamb, which I felt was a tad lazy, but delicious nonetheless.Gratin Egglant – Stunning dish, both to look at and to eat. Bravo Gerome, this was a show stopper.Service was a mixed bag, when we arrived and asked for a table for 2, he simply turned and walked away from us without asking us to follow him, confusing and not very warming. He did warm to us the more the evening went on.
The fancy and modern decorate and service was fantastic. We ordered lamb souvlaki pork cheek and roast califlower for sharing. I love pork cheek taste soft and crispy. The price was acceptable. We will try dinner next time
Where do I begin…. basically ordered half the menu!! The bread and dips the lamb, chicken, fish and cauliflower of the large dishes. The prawns, fried chicken, the burnt eggplant, the pork cheeks from the small dishes followed by the trifle loukamemdes and the pancetta desert. Standout dishes were the fried chicken pork cheeks eggplant lamb and the donuts. The didnt like the chicken which came with the risotto not because it was bad but Ive decided I dont like risotto. The donuts had a chocolate sauce which I didnt take to but everything else was exceptional. I dont eat seafood and actually ate 3 prawns!!! The sauce that it came with was delicious. We didnt have to wait for our food at all and the waiter was helpful and quite alert!! The sauces and dips in every dish were soooo nice we ordered some extra bread to soak it up
