Expensive!! Always a risk with small towns offering no alternatives. While the service was good, food good and view lovely, the price made us not want to go back. Preferred the coffee from their neighbours too. The house made baking was tasty though…but also expensive! $17 for a beer?! And save yourself a few dollars by getting the pizza bread instead of the pizza. Its not that much different, no idea why the pizzas are so much pricier.
The worst ever customer experience i had ever encountered in my entire dining experience. My friends and I walked into the cafe looking for food to find the food over prices ($26 for a big breakfast?!) and we had a look around and just walked out seeing if there were any other places and planning to come back to the cafe, however a man with a beard came out and shouted move you parked car and we tried to explain we were coming back but then he threatened to ‘slash our car tires’ when all of the threat and derogatory comments could have been avoided. In wake of this we choose to leave and will never be coming back in the future. Reading some customer reviews I’m comforted I’m not the only person to receive such a bad treatment going to this cafe and clearly the people who run this cafe does not know how to run it and lacks the basis of knowing how to treat their customers. A large reason on why they have people coming into their cafe is because its unfortunately one of the only cafes available on an average basis.
The food here is really good. There is a lot of taste in the pizzas and that’s the only reason this place gets more than one star. The service we received was terrible. We were bought out drinks by one waitress that we hadn’t ordered because she wasn’t sure if another waitress had given us the ones we did order 20 minutes prior (even though we were drinking them and the were on the table) we waited an hour for two pizzas and even then she chips we ordered we’re forgotten about and had to wait an extra 20 minutes for them and at that stage we had already eaten our pizzas and didn’t want them. The waitress who took our order and payment argued we hadn’t even ordered the fries and we had to show proof on our receipt. We won’t be going back there which is a shame
$25 for a burger?! Who do you think you are Piha Cafe? The most gratuitous abuse of a monopoly I’ve witnessed in what is effectively a small beachside village. If only the food and service came anywhere near the ridiculous prices. $10 for chips? It’s Piha, not Ponsonby!
We got to Piha for the amazing and famous beach. Stopped by this little cafe around 6 in the evening. Not only does it offer stunning views, the vibe and atmosphere of the cafe really provided a good experience towards the overall experience of the visit to Piha. We ordered a pork belly pizza with pineapple, sweet potato and shallots which tasted amazing.
Near to piha beach this place is so beautiful with a lovely view. Damn hungry and we ordered chips and pepperoni pizza. Though pizza was just okaish chips were good. They have such cute seating arrangements and lovely view. Can try but wont recommend 100%. Can try once.
The cafe has a strategic spot behind Piha beach. We walked in at 2pm, the room was busy and there was a 30 minute wait for cooked food. With young ones in tow we ordered food to be reheated. The food we ordered took almost as long. The pies had nice pastry, but the mince meat was not that tasty, and the pie was inconsistently heated. The fries we ordered were a little anaemic and a little soggy. Unfortunately the food did not meet the standard of the setting
