Pun unintended but Daily Bread has generated a bit of a cult following for their baked goods. In particular their taro sourdough had lines going out the door. That, coupled with still-warm pretzels, crispy pies and borderline-sinful donuts, you can, as Spinoff rightly puts find the place by the trail of drool. As a refurbished neoclassical bank building, we loved the contrast of modern, stark-white walls and LED beams with dark steel and glass industrial elements. We pondered over whether the vintage mahogany cabinets were originally from the buildings banking days, and collectively lost our minds when we learned that the big vault safe door at the back had been converted into a chiller. They have a petite sheltered courtyard to nom in and we imagine itd be just as cosy in winter – theres a wood fire oven so things look promising. We confess there are huskies who usually shy away from carbs and sugar, but today was a worthwhile cheat day. Go grab a hot cross bun right now, we swear you wont regret it, even in sugar purgatory.Check out our individual food reviews here: husk.co.nz/lunches/daily-bread-feb-2018

Food: 4.5/5Service: 4/5Overall: 4.3/5Almost forgot to write a review for Daily Bread after the Auckland Art Fair I was in the fair for five days and every day I bought a different pastry to try and I absolutely loved them! Plain croissant and ham and cheese croissants were so crunchy outside and silky inside. Their danish were so amazing!! Had rhubarb danish and raspberry pear danish and I was gutted I finished them so quickly:) I also tried strawberry custard sourdough donut (forgot to take a picture). Although it was a bit chaotic to eat it coz the cream oozed out once you had a bite, it was so yummy. Definitely will go for round two:)

I can understand Daily bread makes best pastry and bakery goods. They make it with heart and there was lots of people. Croissant and donut tasted very gourmet and coffee was good

Daily Bread at Parnell was closed, possibly due to the New Year, but the one at Point Chevalier was still open. The food was special & nice. I had a ham & cheese croissant, an orange loaf, and a hot coffee. The hot pretzel with whipped bottarga was not my cup of tea. (P.S. There were just too many flies sharing the food in the cabinet.)Visited on 4 January 2019

So they need to do something about the fliesOther than that the coffee was excellent and the cheese straw was delicious. What I really liked was the ginger bar – gluten free with a crust made from miscellanea including candied ginger! FTW!Nothing pretty in terms of playing, but good food with good ingredients. If the management would work towards managing the flies that seem to abound in their shop, I would rate them much higher
