The crayfish ravioli was so amazing with a delightful with its truffle sauce. I was astounded at the service and the quality of the food, the selection of beverages is second to none. I congratulate the staff on their exceptional kindness and overall friendliness. Well done Morell!!The Sheikh of AucklandInstagram: @sheikh.of.auckland
The decor is in the art deco style, the staff were friendly and accommodating. We dined on a Friday, the food was very nice and the mood relaxed. The scallop special was delicious, my short rib was very nicely cooked, all washed down with good wine. Good stuff from a suburban local
I was not going to do this review, but after seeing Kim Knights review in the sat herald i felt i should.First of all the staff were wonderful and the decor was very pleasant, nothing was too much, unfortunately the food did not match, we ordered two dishes, the eggplant and the squid, both under cooked, especially the eggplant, which was barely cooked , i had high hopes for tis establishment, but sadly we were disappointed, and i get no pleasure out of writing this review having been in hospitality and have an inherent understanding of the problems of consistency.
Four of us had an amazing lunch here last Friday. All staff were superb and performed beyond expectation. The calamari and the ceviche were both sublime! We couldn’t fault our meal and to top it off you stock our favourite wine. Well done!
Food excellent (shared tasters, calamari salad, pork buns). Indoor and outdoor seating lovely, plenty of different seating options. But outdoor seating difficult to get in and out of due to large pot plants blocking way.Service variable, for example, waitress was asked to bring additional glass and she simply put it on table on her way past. Bottle of wine took ages to come out. Not many smiles. Recommend staff training in creating rapport with customers and consistent service!!!!
Once again NZ you impress! Produce, ambience, decor, awesome cocktails, service with a smile, fantastic menu and the the food is amazing! If you’re in Auckland make the trip and treat yourself Recommendations: eggplant starter, duck mains, sago desert #morell #foodromance
Great location, vibe and service especially for a suburban bistro. We ordered an array of shared plates, mains and desserts. Some of the shared plates were yum but some were off unfortunately. The scallop special was disappointing as the flavour of the scallop was lost and overpowered by a bitter pesto that left a harsh after taste. Id highly suggest tweaking this dish. For mains, I had the fish of the day which promised to be served with a gorgeous saffron risotto (I had high hopes). Again unfortunately i wish this was executed better. The saffron risotto was overpowered by a heavy hand of dill throughout despite no mention of dill on the menu. I love dill but not with saffron and not when the saffron should have been the star. The fish was over cooked, burnt skin, dry in parts. My friends mains also didnt quite hit the mark. Dessert was tasty though so not all was lost! I write this review with the hope that this place can continue to improve. Its such a neat spot and the customer service was excellent – warm, friendly and professional.
