If the burgers from here decided to turn into a human being it would come out sexy like a Tom Hardy, Lucky I am made of money will be eating here regularly.xx
Oh the trepidation before I headed along, will I get the one-star ordeal or the five-star delight. Last night was my first and thus only visit (I will return one evening to get another data point and maybe update this). So…the service was friendly and professional (by the standards of a takeaway), no complainants there. I was told 10 minutes (and it was quite busy). I assumed it would be at least 15 minutes; lo and behold it was ready in 9 minutes and 21 seconds. (OK I didn’t time it but had just enough time to pop down to the wharf and have a quick spliff…which surely didn’t take more than a few minutes.) So with food in hand I trotted off. I suppose this brings me to the quality. I ordered tarakihi, squid rings, a bacon buttie and chips. OK is the term that comes to mind. The tarakihi didn’t seem perfectly fresh but I didn’t detect any amines, also the texture was good but not caught-that-day fresh…reasonable. The chips were interesting. Some were crispy almost to the point of burnt and the full-sized chips were soft inside. Is this a fault? No. Being quite high I had fun savouring the different textures, each chip was an hilarious surprise. The squid rings were the standard pre-formed minced stuff that you get everywhere. Nice bacon on the buttie though. Not being a Brit, I’m not sure what the key to a perfect buttie is. Overall a standard fush & chups shop dressed up in fancy livery. I’ll be back one evening. All this verbosity is making me hungry!
Third visit and I’m still in love with this place! The best fish n chips I’ve ever had! Great service, atmosphere and musical selection. Om nom nom!!
Delicious fresh fish fried to perfection. Not usually a fan of tarakihi but this was definitely freshly caught. The piece of fish was chunky and beautiful flaky with a terrifically crispy batter. At $7 the price point is not cheap but it is exceptionally fresh (I.e. must have been caught that morning) so I’ll be back again
Went there a few weekends ago and absolutely loved their calamari! It’s beautiful Asian flavors were perfectly balanced and the calamari was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. Definitely the best calamari my husband and I have had and we’ve traveled extensively in South East Asia.
Rating would be 0 but have to give 1$32 for 3 pieces of rubbery grilled snapper and 2 scoops of soggy bland mushy chips. If you are thinking of going DONT!!!You have been warned.
Only because i can’t choose any lessWow…all our daughter wanted for her birthday was fish n chips at the beach…40 minute wait whilst you weren’t busy…$36 for this crap…disappointed daughter and parents…completely uneatable…fish I didn’t try but hubbie threw back in disgusted…chips are mush…I will happily deliver all back to you minus 3 chips and a bite of fish tomorrow…thanks for ruining our night with your disgusting food :(Oh and your staff wiping his nose with the back of his hand constantly isn’t a good look…
