We had lunch there, and will never go again. The food was ok but very ordinary. The cleanliness was shocking. The toilets looked like they had never been cleaned before, and the indoor eating area was very uninviting and dirty. I was told this used to be a nice place, well it’s not anymore…
I used to go Macnut cafe about 6times a year. After Macnut farm sold to others, previous really good cafe operator left after huge argument which i heard while i was there. After that korean mother and son took over business now operate by Chinese guy who were very friendly but coffee was awful it tasted like cheap instant coffee (Americano) and flatwhite was really bad. Very hard to get coffee in Auckland. The garden was best feature of the cafe, new owner doesnt do any gardening and by water lily pond they didnt cut lawn for at least 6months which we couldnt walk in. This place needs attention from owner and unloved feel now. What a shame just beautiful place otherwise.
MacNut Cafe is our favourite Cafe in the Helensville area. Regan and Penny are lovely, the food is delicious and the service is great.
I rang the cafe at 2pm to double check their opening hours and was told they were open until 4pm. We arrived at 3pm and they were closed. Disappointing, and a bit of a waste of time.

Took the drive out with a few girlfriends, after hearing a few positive things about this place. And we were very much disappointed. Caesar salad was absolute crap! Stingy serving size not that I ate much of it as the cos lettuce was wilted and old. I complained and notthing was done about it.Walk away feeling ripped off!Will never go back.
Having never been out to sth head we opted to have a stop at Macnut cafe. The grounds are very tired and run down. We ordered an earl grey tea which came out in the cup. No T pot and tea bag gone. asked for soy milk. 60c for a very small jug, not good. The service was OK. The slice was OK. Time for an over haul I think.
