Prawn and pineapple fried rice, crispy soft shell crab and prawn, penang tofu curry and thai ceviche were amazing I loved food and environment was so good. Service was really good
We ordered prawn papaya salad and two other big sharing plates. The prawn papaya salad has good flavours but the portion size is not big enough to justify the price tag. Our two sharing plates did not arrive at the same time which is ridiculous. We considered them as main dishes per person although they label it as ‘big sharing plates’. When I asked the staff if the two dishes should come at roughly the same time, he said that those are sharing dishes so usually they don’t come together. This absolutely doesn’t make sense. These two sharing plates are the main course of the meal so should be served together at the same time rather than one after another. My partner almost finished his before mine came out. This is a very infuriating experience and I will definitely not go back again. I’ve seen other tables having slow service as well and a couple finished their two big sharing plates before their third one came and they had that taken away instead. The quality of the food doesn’t justify the wait time and the price tag doesn’t justify the quality of food.In short, very disappointing and an utter waste of time and money.
I had high hopes for this place because it looked so lovely from the outside and online, however I left this restaurant rather disappointed. We ordered the Charred Roti w/ Peanut Dipping Sauce, Crispy Pork Belly, and Pad Thai. The meal started off quite well with the roti as it was flavourful and fresh while the peanut sauce was aromatic and sweet. However, everything just went downhill from there. The crispy pork belly was not crispy at all, in fact it was rather hard, dry and not very pleasant to chew.Pad thai is one of my favourite dishes ever, so I had to give it a try here. I regretted it immediately. This was the worst pad thai Id ever had in my life. It felt like everything was just thrown on the plate without being stir-fried together and without any seasoning whatsoever. The two mains were rather overpriced and for the quality, I felt like they were definitely not worth it.Service was friendly and the interior design of the place was beautiful, so it hurts me that I have to leave such a poor review but the food was simply too unsatisfactory.
We have been planning to try Black Rice for a while as it has had some great reviews. We went this week and were not disappointed – wow! We went for the 5 (small) sharing plates for $59. Our selected choices were the snapper, Balinese pork, pulled pork Bao, Angus steak, and lamb ribs, to which we added rice and roti. Each dish was a delight – beautifully presented, full of flavour and absolutely delicious, with a good balance of spices and textures within each dish. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the tables were cleared of plates etc rapidly and the service was with a smile. We also sampled the not readily available Asahi black lager and it was brilliant! – the colour, crema, and texture of a stout but the taste of a lager – must try! Overall it was very good value for money, and although small the dishes together made a completely satisfying dinner. We totally recommend Black Rice to anyone who likes excellent food – this is Asian fusion at its best and we definitely will be back.
Three words to describe our 14 people team lunch: small, slow, and yum.To be honest, the food was good, but the size was way too small. The waiter told me the large plate would feed two people, so I ordered their small plate, however, the small plate was only a piece of steak! It was really small, so I have to order another one which the price was higher than the larger plate then. Two of us was waiting for the food for longer than ONE HOUR! If you have aplan after the meal, probably not go there, or at least not during lunch or dinner time?
Good taste of Thai Fusion cuisine. Pork belly is very yummy with the mango salad. Very good idea and creation of food. The decor of restaurant is also pretty cute. Good price too.
Came for lunch with a friend after reading great reviews about this place. We were very surprised to be the only people in the restaurant, not surprisingly the service was great and the food was lovely. I recommend the Thai ceviche to anyone and everyone, just tell the waitress your heat requests before ordering.
