Prices have gone up, quantity & quality of meals has gone downhill. Marsala dosa (NZ$13) potatoes seem to be missing altogether. Really tired, dated dining area could do with a lick of fresh paint n suitable dining tables, where the tables are not higher than chairs n you sinking to find a comfortable seating level. The tables are designed to cater for large groups but this eatery rarely attracts large crowds, mainly takeaways. A small sink to wash hands hidden behind screen partition is one of the Filthiest sinks with hand sanitize r instead of soap wash, at an eatery that prides itself in producing mouth-watering jalebi’s. FOH service is faultless and there is genuine pride in catering to it’s local community n visitors but basic hygiene and a reno could go a long way, including a vent that will remove old cooking oils/smells from a cold, zero ambiance dining area.

Decent vegetarian Indian meals although nothing fancy. Not the best decor or ambiance but acceptable and reasonable! If you are looking for Indian vegetarian food, this is not bad.

Food quality and portion has deteriorated and to top it all, the price has gone up SIGNIFICANTLY !! We ordered couple of dosas and were shocked to see the size and the filling was just appalling. Paneer paratha had no paneer in it and when we questioned we were told that it has melted in the paratha. Used to go there regularly but not anymore. Looks like the owners have lost interest in the business now as the place was tired and unkempt.

The best Gujarati food in NZ (or maybe India as well). Only mom’s cooking can beat this.Super super expensive. Terrible ambience – messy and unprofessional.

The best Jalebi in the whole of Australasia and I am not exaggerating. It is super yummyyyyy. Food is pretty good as well, it used to be my go to place for Indian vegetarian food, especially the thali. But off late they have increased the price by 60%, n I think it’s not fair.So hence, 3 star otherwise I would have happily given it another star. But avoid the sweets apart from world class Jalebi’s, no other sweets to rave for….

Having read all reviews my take on Roops concurs with the various aspects discussed. It is a simple honest establishment hence the consistency does vary. However in my experience the food is always fresh. As a family business you are served by different individuals and hence your customer service experience varies. The owners try to maintain the highest standards of hygiene in the kitchen. In a busy understaffed take-away cum restaurant this may not always extend to the surroundings. The plates and cups are always clean. Their Paranthas are a star offering and those Gujerati thalis rate amongst the best value for money vegetarian offerings in Auckland. Nothing beats the Hanjo Katchorees and sweet chai for a quick relaxing snack. For beer snacks and chasers I encourage patrons and those into snacking for the rugby to avail themselves off the chevro, Papdi Ghatia, Tiki and Sweet Puris. Always ask for the Tamarind Chutney or Sauce to go with. I do know that when the owners are on board the food sings and yes you would be hard pressed to find better Jalebis in all of Auckland.

Honestly haven’t tried the food but would really like to someday. But their Jalebis are exquisite, kudos to the chef who makes them really knows his/her job. Best Jalebis u can get in Auckland hands down. The person over the counter is very welcoming and friendly which is what you expect of course. The restaurant does have aesthetic feel to it, they have kept the dcor subtle and very authentically Indian.
