Below average dining experience. Dry, tasteless naan bread, tasted like it was from a microwave. Large butter chicken had 5 pieces of chicken. Not worth it for the taste or the value, very disappointed.
Had takeaway from Shahi today .Tandoori chicken which was hard as rock, tasted so bland and obviously old chicken.Ordered butter nan which turned up very rubbery with no butter and I could clearly say they took it out of the fridge and heated it before packing.Jalfrazi chicken was the only thing we managed to keep it down. This was the worse indian takeaway me and my family ever had .Definitely not going back to that place ever.I hope they will rise up with a new management and of course a good chef.
I ordered vegetarian takeaway. Palak paneer, roti, rice n samosa. It tastes really nice. Samosa was different but tastes really nice. Roti was awesome but I asked for plain n they gave me buttered one. Palan paneer was good. Overall good experience.
My husband and I used to love Shahi. We have lived in different areas over the years but were always happy to travel to eat there. Unfortunately, we have had 2 bad experiences in the last couple of months. First after raving about this place all the time I took some of my colleagues there to find the food wasnt as good as it used to be. Didn’t look or taste the same and wasn’t served in the usual plates… so I really wondered if the place had changed chef because even the colour of the curries werent the same. I was served a flat beer and when I mentioned it to the waiter he insisted for ages he had just opened it instead of just changing it. And now my husband has just brought a $41 take away consisting of 2 curries which were ok but not worth the price paid (very food courty) and a very overcooked and dry nan, almost felt like it was old. So very dissapointed that it’s not what it used to be. Will have to find a new place.
A very disappointing experience tonight. I used to buy my takeaways from Shahi Herne Bay often and I have also popped in for the odd meal over the past few years. Previous to tonight, I have always found it a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, the hard sell tonight on everything on the menu set a sour tone from the beginning – and although the meal was fine (barring the buttered naan without butter), when the waitress opened an extra bottle of sparkling water at our table which we had not ordered and began pouring it despite our protestations that we hadn’t ordered it, we decided never to come back. It’s the little things that count – and honesty and integrity should be high priorities on the list for a restaurant that wants repeat business
Shahi what a disappointment very average if not below average Indian takeaway. I ordered Chicken Jalfrazi and a Garlic Naan the Chicken Jalfrazi was nothing short of average and as for the Naan as good as enedible, dry rubbery. Shahi was a great place a few years back I hope that they up their game soon. I did by the way email them directly but they failed on replying, so this implies to me that they also don’t care to much about their local customers. Wouldn’t return in a hurry.
I’m a regular at Shahi Jervois Road now, as I’ve had such a great experience with eating there. We often order takeaways as the Butter Chicken here is the best I’ve ever had – not too sweet, but full of flavour. But better than that, the staff always recognise me and are so friendly! They often recognise my voice (and regular order) on the phone and are lovely and generous, often treating me with free poppadoms or delicious desserts. They were also very kind when I had a group of friends go there for dinner on my birthday – a number of my friends had not shown up, so there were less of us than I’d booked for, and we were a bit late too. But they didn’t say a word about it and were friendly as ever, even though I’m sure it was very annoying. Would recommend Shahi 110%, for the lovely people and the great food!
