Great new cafe on East Coast Rd. We had the Chicken Waffles and Eggs Benedict. Loved the citrus hollandaise on the Eggs Bene, perfectly cooked eggs and Rosti. Hubby enjoyed to Chicken Waffles, only feedback would be he felt the sauce needed more sweetness, the menu said Chipotle Honey glaze, but he felt it wasnt quite sweet enough. He still said he would have again though. We will definitely be back as loads more to try on the menu. Staff are really friendly and attentive. They have some yummy looking cabinet food too. I hope this place does really well.

Coffees arrived quickly and were great value and high quality. Food arrived quickly aswell and was one of the best plates of food ive ever had. Will 100% be returning here.
I have been there twice , both weekend days. I appreciate it’s a relatively new business however there are a few things that are an issue: 1) 20 min wait for coffee, 2) Wait staff taking items to wrong tables on multiple occasions, 3) Quality of scones very poor 4) Menus are placed standing up on tables between S & P shakers, wind blows them over, wait staff simply place them back, only to be blown over again
After seeing a positive review online 3 others and I decided to try ground control for ourselves. Unfortunately despite lots of promise, there are definetly teething issues with this new cafe! First off, it was Sunday midmorning (not overly busy) and we were told when ordering that the wait time for food would be about 45minutes (we continued on as keen to support local) then when our food did arrive the burgers were completely raw in the middle, the staff (altho appearing very overwhelmed/stressed) were kind and agreed to recook these however, another 35 minute wait. Our table did appreciate the complimentary coffees and these were delicious especially the white hot chocolate. Overall the place has the potential to be amazing – however more staff/experience may help and make weekend services go smoother.
The food was absolutely amazing Ive never seen fried chicken & waffles in NZ & it was done so well. They use free range ingredients but it was very well priced. Short wait time & friendly service. Coffee was YUM + I tried the white hot chocolate… wow!!!
