Used to be a regular here! Ive tried everything from blueberry waffles to salmon eggs benny over the years but have been out of town for a bit, so was keen to pop back in and see what was new! The popularity of C&G certainly hasnt changed. Granted, it was a Saturday morning at 11.30, but the cafe was buzzing and full. I ordered a chai latte and we got some cheese and date scones to share at the table, with berry jam. The coffee was average, a little bit on the warm rather than hot side. And although the date scones were delicious, bursting with dates, and light, our jam was forgotten! The wait staff were so rushed off their feet it took us a while to hunt one down and receive our jam, by which time the scones had mostly been devoured and were cooling down (warm scones or nothing, right?!)The jam however is incredible. It has full berries and is just the perfect sweetness. All in all, great atmosphere and tasty food. Next time Id go for a smoothie or juice instead of a coffee, though.
