Stopped here for a quick lunch before heading to the Takapuna Sailing Club for a function. The food itself was fairly ordinary (toasted bagel, I mean, what else can you get right or wrong), if not fast service, however my experience of the coffee was unfortunately not that great. I had ordered a long black, which came as a drink I had to mix myself (e.g. the shots were separate to the hot water, not sure if thats just something people prefer to do in Auckland, since my experiences elsewhere is, they shot it for you), but unfortunately whatever roast blend (or their water temperature) was horribly burnt tasting and extremely bitter. Yes, I realise I am having a long black, but it doesn’t have to taste like what that did. Middle of the road. Could have been better, definitely could have been worse.
Busy Sunday you don’t expect much other than over worked employees and people that want to be at home with their families – but not here.We were greeted today by a delightfully chirpy young lady who took our order, recommended the freshly baked muffins and told us to make ourselves comfortable.This place has the sun, the view and clearly the best customer service in the area.10/10 guys!!!
What a surprise, I’ve lived in the area for 14 years and never been here to the cafe, but we wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing to take a wheelchair and it was outstanding. We order creamy mushrooms and bacon on toast, BLAT, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel and an omelete. The presentation and standard of food was second to none. The service was super friendly and happy and we all left feeling like we had discovered something amazing. It’s a shame it’s taken me this long to discover, but I’ll definitely be back more often!
