Some dishes are great. Unfortunately, have been disappointing the last couple of visits. Big Breakfast has the smallest portion size in comparison to every other big breakfast dishes I have had in Auckland. Where do you even find sausages that small?
Number one goal for Sunday was finding a decent eggs bene and flat white to remedy a harsh hangover. We ordered the bene with avo, spinach and mushrooms, and hash brown with bacon and eggs. First thing I always check for with breakfast food is whether the eggs are cooked well or not, in this case they were great. Unfortunately the rest of the benedict didn’t match, the hollandaise was rather acidic, the avo was hiding, and the English muffin was disappointingly close to the cheap ones you get from countdown. As for the the hash brown, it was more of a cake than a crispy base for bacon and egg, and the portioning for this was way off. The bacon and eggs were excellent but I wish the hash would have been about half as thick as it was. The coffee was very smooth, although the roast was a little lighter than I prefer.
Absolutely awesome environment. We had Benedict orvieto and soup. Really friendly and polite staff, loved the food, loved the service. And the coffee was top notch!!
I arrived at Orvieto on Mother’s Day (last Sunday) after a bit of a disaster with another cafe booking. It is one of my favourite local cafes and I hoped that they might be able to host us instead without a booking. Kent one of the staff when I made my request was immediately accomodating and welcoming, organising a table for 8. When my party had arrived Kent also very kindly arranged table service as we had three children aged 8 months, 4 yrs, 7 yrs and their very tired mum with us. The food and coffee arrived quickly and all was delicious. My father who is very discerning about what he eats was very taken with his eggs benedict (the hash cakes were a big hit) and the children ate all their meals and pronounced them delicious. There is good reason this cafe is a little gem in the Mt Eden/Three Kings area. Very impressed with both service and food on this visit. Well done Orvieto – bravo.
Good coffee (my choice is always long black with a dash of cream) to grab on the run (I work locally). The cinnamon buns, so fresh and airy – be sure to get it toasted. That warm buzz gives a great high! Ive had the pasta salad a few times for an easy take out lunch too, tasty. Maybe add some cheese tho team 😉 Ill be back to try out more of the menu for sure.
Best hashbrowns in Auckland! If not getting the Orvieto Hashbrown breakfast make sure you get them added as extras to your meal. Can usually park close by. Prices are fairly typical for Auckland.
We went for brunch. My partner wanted a meal made from the sides menu. They were only too willing to help. Friendly staff and fast service, and the food was hot to the end of the meal.
