Very pleased with the food from King of India, really enjoy their butter chicken and garlic naan. My favourite local butter chicken, after Chand in Torbay. The naan breads are wonderfully fluffy and huge! Ordering two curries and a naan will often get us a free naan. With the included rice, this is usually enough for two greedy eaters for dinner, and one person for lunch the next day. It’s a rare day that we can finish everything in one sitting. Tasty food and one of the best priced Indian takeaways in the Windsor Park area. Staff very polite and friendly.

Always a favourite Indian takeaway of mine. I always get the chicken curry and it never fails to disappoint! The staff are always friendly when I arrive. Highly recommend trying this place out!

Ordered butter chicken on uber eats -spicy level as hot. Chicken pieces were surprisingly juicy and the curry was thick & full of flavour.I love my butter chicken (although my Indian friends judge me for it) and have had butter chicken from many different restaurants but this place makes the best butter chicken in North shore.Highly recommended & can’t wait to try other curry on their menu

Jeez you guys werent lying about a few things to do with this place. Taste, friendliness, speed and generosity – you were right. This is part two of my current Indian food fixation. Almost a week after my visit to Chand, I realised instead of satiating my curry cravings, it just made me want more. So I finally gave King of India a try after seeing the positive reviews here.I was quoted 15 minutes when I called to place my order and when I got there, it was ready to go, piping hot (and still super hot when I got home about 5-8 minutes later – couldnt actually touch the naan initially!) If theres one thing that has peeved me off about takeaway orders in the past, its being told a time then having to wait after. 5 extra minutes I can understand, but 20+? (Heres looking at you, Olivias Kitchen and Farteze – coincidentally next door to one another). Now heres the thing – unlike Chand, when King of India is told medium heat, they take your request seriously. In Chand mode, I went for medium and I think next time, I should definitely opt for mild for butter chicken (only because I prefer my butter chicken with a v subtle heat). As an Asian who likes spicy food but cant eat it as well as the rest of the tribe (so….tolerates it a bit better than your average native Kiwi), I definitely found myself reaching for something to drink. Medium doesnt kill you by any means but there is most definitely heat there. As everyone has been saying here, their chicken is juicy AS. None of this dry takeout curry business. It looked like some of the pieces were thigh, so it definitely wasnt all just breast I think – I know some takeaway places only use breast because its cheaper. Butter chicken was good, but I did notice a slight quality difference from Chand. But thats only because I had that well…um..dont tell my GP but about 6 days prior. I wouldnt have noticed anything otherwise. Great quality for an equally great price. Now, the mango chicken. Yeah, I decided this needed another go – you cant determine a dish based on one try and boy am I glad about that mindset. The main difference with Chand was that this one was not as creamy but thats what made it work so well with the sweetness of mango chicken. Plus it made the mango flavour much more distinct. The Chand version just tastes like sweet and creamy curry compared to this one being an actual mango-tasting curry. Its like comparing sugary dessert curry to a sweet fruit based curry. I mean, I dont know which version is more authentic, but I know that I definitely tasted more mango in this one. It wasnt as spicy as the butter chicken despite being medium, so I might stick to medium when ordering here. The rice was plentiful and despite ordering one garlic naan, they added a plain naan. What is this generosity madness?! Now, it was definitely as soft and fluffy as someone else had said. Personally that wasnt my thing because I like my naan to be thinner with a bit of a chew to it like Chand. But having said that, I still enjoyed it because the fluffiness was unlike any other naan Ive had before. My friend actually said she preferred it like this and happily ate the bonus naan too, so each to their own. Could afford to taste of more garlic though on the garlic version. So two places down. I would probably say another couple of places to go over the next couple of weeks before Im curried out for a while. Ive given both Chand and King of India 5 stars for different reasons. If I want to dine out Chand would be my first pick on the Shore (better than Nite Spice – not as good as it was almost ten years ago….) but King of India will become my go-to takeout now.

Its cozy, small and good to go restaurant. Most of the stuff we order was good. Price was it wasn’t that expensive. I think i can go there again.

Best Indian food in Auckland! I love Indian food and this is easily the best quality and flavor and service around. Friendly and helpful staff always happy to see me. We routinely get huge $150+ orders from here for staff lunches and they are always fantastic. My co workers all agree this place is amazing. My personal favorite is the ‘Chicken Briyani specialty Rice’ dish it is spicy and full of tandoor chicken pieces, it is incredible! thanks guys.
