Was my second time here this morning for breakfast. Overall my experience was average. The service was nothing special, you pay for your food before you eat and no one seats you or anything but staff are nice enough. I ordered the crepes with berries this morning which looked pretty. However it was WAY too sweet, and I’m a sweet tooth myself and couldn’t finish half of it so I think a lot of people would find it too sweet. The plum berry compote would of worked better if it was a more sour and less sugary. I also would of preferred Greek yoghurt on the side rather than cream as it definitely needed something refreshing. My coffee was super foamy and milky on top which looked cool but was a little too much for me. Last time I was here I ordered the omelette and I didn’t enjoy the grainy bread that came with it so it would be nice to have more bread options. Overall there’s nothing bad about this cafe but nothing exciting either, and I would definitely try out the other cafes nearby next time instead (they were full this morning).
Fantastic food, great service, good coffee! The portions are GREAT and so are the prices. This is a really good breakfast spot. Omelette was huge with lovely bread and delicious chutney
Walking from Grey Lynn, through to Cox Bay Reserve and onto Garnet Rd I found myself here during my break. I wanted something light, so I ended up getting up their Toasted Muesli, which pretty much made my lunch break a bliss. I never have the time look around for any muesli pots or any with muesli because cafes around either do not sell it or they sell in really small portions. But this one has a reasonable amount.Just the ordinary service like what all cafes have, the kind and friendly approach. It was just a ‘point and receive’ order instead of having a waiting time.So within the interiors of the place, it’s just like your ordinary city-like cafe with different chairs and tables both in and outside. But overall a great place to get something to munch on during a lunch break.
Meh. Poor service. Blah food. Bacon over cooked and chewy. Sausages were over cooked and tough. They have an excellent butchery over the road and can’t do it justice. Owners mucked up our order and blaming us.
Ordered the Big Breakfast, everything was out of a packet and not done well, eggs were really greasy, coffee extremely weak. Eggs Benedict not good, eggs tasted greasy. Really disappointing, $50 not well spent.
The food was tasty, and the serving size was excellent… no extra frills or extravagance… just a good honest meal served as described. The coffee ticked the necessary boxes. Atmosphere wise; it’s simple, clean, if a little bit dated but balanced by friendly attentive staff. Overall, reasonable value for money (especially with an Entertainment Book).
Brunch was average at best, their focus seems to be on quantity not quality. Huge pile of salad covering the entire plate for my BLT, 4 fat slices of tasteless tomato with some avocado & the bacon was dry, a couple of pieces of toast buried under this pile. Big breakfast much the same. Cabinets with hardly any food in them. Coffee was good & muffins looked good but did not try them.
