They offer complimentary popcorn, which was quite yummy and different.Nice and friendly staff, water are quite to replenish. However food was a little slow to serve.The fish taco was nice, too bad it comes with a minimum quantity of 3. So we can only try one flavor. The slow cooked rib was good and tender. The jambalaya was nice however didnt contain enough flavor. I found the seasoning of food a bit light at this restaurant.Food: 7/10Food presentation: 7/10Service: 9/10Location: 10/10Ambience: 9/10Price $50 per person excl alcohol
Love the complimentary popcorn Clearly malted gluten and dairy free options, great cocktails and friendly service. Lovely ambience down by the waterfront in Wynyard Quarter. A little pricey for the portion sizes but a fun night out and tasty food.
Delicious new menu tasting at Miss Clawdy. We tried a number of dishes:Skillet cornbread – cooked in a cast iron skillet with Lewis Road whipped Chipotle butter. Southern fried chicken nibbles Jamaican jerk chicken, marinated in a mix of 20 herbs and spices Po’boys of crispy shrimp on a fresh baked baguette and remoulade, gherkins and Capers (my fav, served canap style for us) Braised pork Tacos with Bbq sauce, pineapple salsa Roasted orange kumara with brown butter, maple chilli Pumpkin seeds Dessert was Pic’s Peanut butter Cheesecake: Oreo cookie crumb, Roasted peanuts and Salted Caramel (highly recommend!!!) I’m def going back for the Po’boys with buttermilk oysters.
Returning to Clawdy’s for the third time, I left with the same overall impression-food is tasty but portions are really small for the price. On my last visit, I had struggled to find the meat in the gumbo as it was mostly all sauce. We had 3 people, with all our dishes being around 30-32 dollars each- and despite ordering four dishes, we still left hungry.Service was very well done though, our water was always replenished straight away.
Central american food means… Jerk chicken!!! Great food. Wait-time can be quite long, but worth the wait for the yummy food. Recommended to try
Came here for dinner before the Harry Potter potted show!! Ordered the poutine and the jerk chicken. The poutine had pulled pork on it and I couldnt get enough of it, maybe a little less pork but thats just preferences. The jerk chicken was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside Im just not to sure what it came with it looked like potato mash but it wasnt…… I could only eat a little bit. Next time cornbread n sirloin!!
Came just before kitchens closed. People rave about the fried jerk chicken – its great but I prefer the chicken at coop chicken. That being said, still delicious chicken. Poutine has plenty of beef which was very filling. Probably wouldnt order the grilled jerk chicken next time as it can get a tad dry. For dessert, you have to get the cinnamon doughnuts – they are ridiculously good and freshly deep fried!
