The worst thing you can do to Japanese food is overload it with sweet sticky sauces. How many times have you been served a plate of fresh sushi only to have it coated in kewpie mayonnaise or some other fluorescent goop? It seems a sin to ruin such freshness and ultimately ruin the balance of a dish.It was with great pleasure I discovered Moshi Moshi do not do this. They allow the freshness to sing. The allow the ocean to prepare your fish, with very minimal human interference other than the necessary knife work to fillet. The simple cuts of Tuna Nigiri were pillows from the sea, so delicate and a texture that seemingly melts away with little no no effort. The Chicken Kara-age was as you’d expect, crisp and juicy, it never fails to please. The Gyoza (pork dumplings) were less memorable but still nothing to scoff at.The Mixed Grill Platter was tender, perfectly grilled Squid, some ok chicken and some forgettable beef steak, a bit of a let down towards the end.You ever seen someone smile with their entire face? This was the service tonight. Beautiful.
Small cosy place with sea views.Service was excellant. Food was good too, we loved the chicken katsu benti box and the spicey edemame. Rice is not sticky rice , so a bit hard to use chop sticks. But everything tasted great. Chicken katsu was soft and flavoursome, one of the best I’ve tried to date.!
Food: 3/5The Takoyaki was amazing. The Karaage Chicken seemed like just regular fried chicken with a side of mayo. The Gyoza was quite dry and over-fried. Mixed Nigiri was nice and fresh. Spicy Chicken Katsu was good, nice amount of sauce. The Chicken Teriyaki was quite dry, not enough sauce.Service: 4/5Our waitress was lovely and informed us that the small dishes are quite small and is better accompanied with rice. Price: 3/5Dishes are quite small for the price. However, this could be because of the beautiful location.
Moshi Moshi is a really well located restaurant. But that’s only where the good things start. Their food is delicious, comes in great portion sizes and is very reasonably priced. This hidden gem is not to be missed! We had the takoyaki, mixed grill platter, grilled prawns, lamb cutlets and the seafood noodles. Each dish better than the next! Can’t wait for our return here to try some of their other dishes.
