This is hands down my favourite pizza place. I have been there a number of times now (both in the old building and now this smaller, newer one) and thankfully the pizza remains excellent every time. The new establishment leans more towards takeaway rather than dining in. But this doesnt stop my family from ordering one metre of the Margherita and one metre of the Bosciaola every time we go. The difference between Totos Pizza and your average pizza joint is the base. The base isnt the crunchy kind, but rather resembles soft bread dough. It is light and delicious. The Bosciaola is a treat- the combination of the spinach, mushrooms, pinenuts and truffle oil makes for a cosmic experience in every bite. Arguably, the best part is that it tastes just as good for left overs the next day. I find myself craving Totos Pizza- and in fact its one of the only thing I can eat a lot of.
I have heard mixed reviews about this place. Some say its amazing, others say its average. Nevertheless, it is the perfect party food, and I was glad that I finally got to try it for my friends housewarming! These pizzas are so long they are definitely show-stoppers for any event. I liked the fact that you could mix and match flavours too. The base had a nice texture – thin, crispy on the outside, and chewy towards the texture. They were not stingy on the toppings either. The chicken and pinenut one was enjoyed by all. In also like the sausage & broccoli one – the chilli flakes gave it a real kick! However, surprisingly, the favorite of the day was the vegetarian one – the mushrooms were so perfectly cooked and creamy, and went so well with the spinach. The only thing about their pizzas was that they do not have a huge amount of cheese, so they tasted a lot healthier as opposed to greasy and trashy. I personally prefer my pizzas really, really cheesy; but that is just a matter of personal option! After reading the news, I really hope that Totos Pizza could find a new buyer, as their pizzas are too iconic to disappear.
