Nice casual atmosphere. Took my mum who’s in a wheelchair and access was great. The staff were really accommodating and friendly and meals were exceptional quality really tasty highlighting NZs best lamb and beef selections. Bit pricey but well worth the cost for the quality and care taken by the chef. Recommended if you’re in the area. Remember to book first as they get rather busy.

We booked a table for 8 at Bistro 1284 on Friday night and were bitterly disappointed with everything except the young waitress who was lovely.The Venison Eclair was easily the worst dish, the meat had the texture of cat food and the whole dish was bland and tasteless.All our meals came out cold and were sent back – they were returned, slightly warmer on scorching hot plates. I recommend that in future they serve the duck with a steak knife – it was almost impossible to cut and the skin on the duck breast was inedible. The sauce was the only redeeming feature to the dish.Happy to pay top dollar when the food is worth it – overall we were totally disappointed and felt ripped off.
Disgusting!!We are writing to thank the Restaurant so much for allowing us to have such a memorable occasion. We booked the Restaurant weeks ago for a special occasion, but our reservation was not on the list so we were turned away!!I am glad to see that the business is up for sale as you do not deserve to be trading and your attitude stinks.What a sham!!
An absolute joy of an experience. Perfect service, delicious food, fabulous wine. Could not be faulted. A step above the rest available in Rotorua.
Eat out all over NZ. This is up there with the best Auckland/ Wellingtom restuarants. BYO or extensive wine list. Fabulous menu; friendly service. celabration or just a meal out- cannot be beaten in Rotorua.
