I was in Paris and found the top rated Indian restaurant, which happened to be on the top 100 restaurants in Paris too (which is a massive feat in a city with thousands of restaurants). I had high hopes and once I received my meal at this restaurant, all I could think of was my little local in Owhata and how much more delicious it was.. and for for a fraction of the price! I can’t recommend this place highly enough, they make the most beautiful and rich curry and I am in love with the butter naan. I like mine ‘Indian hot’ and they deliver some good heat. They make a beaut mango lassi too!

Being Indian, I am not easily impressed with some of the Indian dishes out there. However, the food at the Great Spice was awesome. The Googley Masala, the tandoori chicken and the lamb vindaloo we ordered were very tasty. This place is a little gem on the outskirts of Rotorua.
This is the best indian food in town. Don’t believe the hype about Indian Star, this is far far superior flavour wise, so clean and fresh tasting. It is something special. The owners are genuinely kind. They even deliver far outside of Owhata which I really appreciate being in Rotorua CBD area. If I could order from here two times a week without having to keep buying bigger pants I would! This is my favourite food in town. 100% consistency. I am so gutted that I am on a diet and will only go for ordering once every 3 weeks. I think about their food every single day and lorn. So so so good. You will have very happy mouths and tummies if you order from here. Get extra menus when you order as you will want to spread them to everyone you care about.
Yum! Your Chicken Kathmandu, Sag Chicken and Googli Masala is soooooo nice. I always go to here. I love your food. Like it.
We get takeaway here quite often, and we especially love their $10 curry night. The food quality is very good, on par with the best of the centre city Indian food – even though you would never guess from the seedy exterior in a small, grubby Owhata strip mall.
