Excellent strong coffee and some home made sweets was the perfect way to start our holiday weekend at Mount Maunganui. Quite the queue because there were two ships in town but well worth the wait for this delicious kiwi tucker.

As soon as you walk in, the friendly staff welcome you. Quite a wide selection of cabinet food, with raw options and food that will suit most dietary requirements. Cute little seating out in the back, which has heaters going, so is nice in the winter too. Highly recommend!

Always an incredible meal at 88! The chia pudding is ridiculous on all levels – portion size, value, aesthetic beauty and flavour! Also highly recommend the carrot cake

Great Coffee, disappointed with the food. The big problem though are the birds, Sparrows, out in the courtyard, they descend on the tables, not nice and would definitely effect the hygiene of the Cafe, they need to do something about it..

We came here after a tip off from a friend. It looks cute and cosy but when you get inside, it’s more than you expect. The cabinet was full with lots of temptations for the taste buds. Scones looked huge. It’s nice to see an eatery with homemade goods that don’t look like they’ve been sitting there all day. We got there at about 1145 and there were only a few tables left. At 12, the traffic came through and there were lines, most people got takeout. I ordered the Eggs Benny with salmon. I forgot what my friend ordered but she enjoyed it. She also ordered the snickers milkshake which was yummy. Unfortunately my order came out well after hers and she had finished while I was still half way through my first egg. One egg came out on a bagel and the other on some bubble and squeak which was a nice and tasty twist. A bit of a shame the bagel took a hacksaw to get through. My Chai latte was nice. I liked how a cafe FINALLY gave me the choice between sweet and spicy. Very creamy and fluffy. Be warned! Their servings are massive so, if you have to drive back to Auckland like I had to today, maybe put aside some time to have a Nana nap before hitting the road. I was so full!

Amazing breakfast menu. Was pretty busy but the service was quick. The pesto and tomato scone was amazing. The Energizer toast was beautifully presented and delicious.

Had an excellent breakfast here during a weekend break. This is a small cafe with a great selection of food and good, quick service. The breakfast omelette was enormous – full of potato, tomatoes, feta & ham, allcooked perfectly & served with 2 slices of sourdough. The counter food was very appealing – pastries & THE tallest slices of moist carrot cake I’ve ever seen. Others tried but we just couldn’t fit any more in after the omelette.Would definitely recommend & will return next time we are in the region.
