If you love terrible service, below average food and classic 80’s rock playlists, this place is for you! Don’t be fooled by the stench of bleach (and burning food items), the hand basin hasn’t been cleaned in probably 6 months! If you enjoy restaurants with no idea of culture or what they’re trying to achieve, then look no further. With food that lacks substance and sliced grey-green olives from a Pams jar, it will blow your low standards out the gate! And while you wait close to ten minutes for the waitress to figure out your two item, too hard basket bill because they got the table number wrong, she will try rectify the situation by offering you the already free mints. Don’t forget to tip. Bon appétit!
Managed to off load the kids for the night and wandered past Flour & Water. It was reasonably full but they managed to squeeze us in.We had the 8 hour beef cheeks in ginger ale with kale to share – what a taste sensation that was and next time there wont be any sharing!That was followed by the chicken pappardelle and mushroom dish – once again good use of herbs (thyme and oregano) dried mushrooms and peas. We also tried the rump steak with Paris butter.We finished with sticky pear pudding, which was divine.We had a bottle of Sangiovese from Tuscany.Service was very good.We will be back.
I was looking for a tasty late lunch and the kitchen was still open. The gnocchi I chose was served in a broth with prawns. Not huge prawns but fine and given I didn’t know what to expect I found this a really pleasing meal. Often Gnocci is a very heavy dish and this was light and beautifully cooked. The wine list is not extensive but fine and my only complaint was trying to get the waitresses attention to place the order and subsequently to get the bill.
Under new management and very disappointing. When we arrived we were given incorrect menus which was not a great start. Our meal was terrible, squid was tough, batter was falling off, fish was over cooked, chips tasted of old oil, the list could go on but the point had been made. This was the worst meal we have ever had in Tauranga. To make matters worse the manager in charge asked how our meal was and then got incredibly defensive and aggressive and told us we had a problem as no one else had complained. We will never be eating there again. Feeling very disappointed as this used to be a great little local restaurant.
Got inside cos it looked busy and the seemed like they had a great vibe ! Yummy pasta with fish of the day and ceviche, pizza a bit thick and chewy but good service and yummy sangrias and good tunes
We came here for dinner on our last night at The Mount and I was impressed. I saw this place during the day while walking around town and I loved the decor. We both ordered pizzas when we saw they have their own wood fire oven. I got the seafood pizza and my partner got the lamb pizza with olives and pumpkin. The pizzas were really nice and it came out so quickly. I don’t usually order seafood pizza but the prawns and scallops were nice and cooked well. The service was also great. The waitress served us pretty quickly. Overall I’d come back to try more of this place’s food. astylecollector.com
Would recommend to all! Restaurant was packed and still delivered great service and attention. Our food was full of flavour and presented beautifully, will be back.
