As an admitted coffee snob I have to say the FW’s at Back Porch are the best in town, smooth strong enough and consistent quality. Friendly host and great service.. Personally never had a less than perfect coffee at Back Porch, good coffee in other cafes around town but the consistency is amazing!!
Lunch yesterday. 5 adults ( 4 engaged in hospitality) and 3 kids ages 8-12. As a coffeecianado I rate my FWx2 perfect,a marriage of a great blend and both a visual and taste masterpiece by a dedicated Barista. The test of any cafe is how staff react when the effluent hits the rotor and Ann-Marie’s aplomb when Hyper Harry ankle tripped her with full tray of drinks superb. No fuss and no further embarrassment for the kid. Opinion of all on dishes – first class and value for $.The busy lunch scene testifies to the calibre of the proprietor’s. As an old London W1 hospitality pro I salute their efforts.
Have been here a few times now for brunch and lunch and the food has become steadily more average. The prices are high and the service mixed – one of the women never smile, however the guy on the coffee machine usually welcomes and farewells you. The coffee is average.Last time we went we ordered the open steak sandwich – for $22 it was almost flavourless. I asked for tomato sauce at the counter and was met with a frosty response. It was a cold day and didn’t feel much warmer inside, so sat outside by a heater. Could do with improvement.
Coffee here is the best you will find anywhere. Great inside outside experience. Cosy in winter. Food very nice, especially breakfast. Nice work team.Easy parking and comfy surrounds.
Best coffee in Tauranga so far!! Good food. Owner always welcoming and happy for our young puppy to come to outdoor area. Clean. Sunny. Quiet. Perfect recipe for your morning chill-out.
Since the new owners Ann-Marie and Christian took over late 2011, the Back Porch Cafe has been providing excellent, friendly service of great-tasting food and the best coffee. They’re always happy to see the regulars and most welcoming to visitors. The porch out the back is great to chill out on a sunny day with a mocha and pancakes dripping with maple syrup.
