Went here with a group of 8 just after new years, reviews looked poor but all of us couldn’t fault it. Waiter was attentive, confident and funny.We were all hungry from walking around the mount and the portion size was perfect with standouts being chicken ceasar, generous portions and fresh / salty and the egg was classic ceasar. Now the pick of a good bunch I had the steak kebabs served with horse radish chutney and side of ginger. OMG – i’ve had steak everywhere and pride myself on cooking a good steak, this was top notch better than many steak houses in Auckland where you pay 48.00 +++. It had been rested well and seasoned perfect – try it !! for 15.00 bux you cant go wrong and will be back. Also we noted the all you can eat ribs at 40.00 were massive, looked to be glazed beautifully and well prepared will try next time
Just been there for lunch – absolutely appalled at the length of time to be served, then longer to get our food which was entirely forgettable! Pork and pineapple skewers – more pineapple than pork and the pork was overcooked. Been there, done that, won’t ever be back again.
Went there for birthday meal, Food poor, tasteless and pricey, duty manager had a disgusting attitude, argued with us, will never ever go there again.
The fact we were book at 6 pm . When we had chosen our menu we had found out that on a Sunday evening the menu had roast of the day to offer however there wasn’t any available . Options were given of chicken or steak which was discusting tasting especially the chicken . Orders were mixed up and very long wait . Other people were coming and going during our wait . Never going there again . Crap service . 1
Customers talk about you a lot quicker when you do something wrong, and that’s what this is all about. This was the third time visiting Rain Bar, and the only reason they get this good of a score is due to the previous two times being an okay experience. The fella at another table had to hail the waitress down to serve us, as we were getting completely ignored. We ordered the platter which I read included a good selection of different items and it sounded great. I thought we were going to get something special but I guess this is a plate you should only order when wasted. It tasted okay at best, the sauces were better, but this is absolutely nothing I couldn’t accomplish at home with a few basic ingredients and little effort. It shouldn’t have been an item on the menu in the first place, but I learned a valuable lesson about the Rain Bar: they will screw you if you give them the opportunity.
Rain is brilliant! Friendly staff, great sized portions, easy-going atmosphere and absolute killer sauce on the ribs. Been there twice now, looking forward to going back when we’re down in the Bay.
