Wow just popped in for dinner as was right next to our hotel. Was an absolute delight. The pizza bread to start was delicious. My hubby had the lasagna and myself the tortellini. Couldn’t fault. To finish the tiramisu and sorbet and gelato. All made in house. The service brilliant. Want to go back and try more dishes on the menu.
We tried this charming Italian bistro on a weekend visit to Tauranga. It was a quiet night generally but a few of the tables in the small-ish dining area were occupied, and a few takeaway orders were collected too. The decor is replica Italian courtyard, complete with Italian music, and even a few Ferrari mementos. The menu is traditional and authentic – we tried a hearty tomato-based pasta dish, and a capriciosa pizza that includes egg so it’s almost quiche-like (may sound odd but it works well). Washed down with a house red and prosecco, we enjoyed everything and all at a reasonable price. We just wished we’d had room for dessert especially the tiramisu which sounds delicious. Service is efficient when it’s busy; later on when it was less busy the husband and wife owners were very friendly, offering tips on local attractions to check out. We can see why they’ve been in business for many years and are clearly well patronised 🙂
We came upon this little restaurant by chance as we felt like italian cuisine. The ambience was quaint enough, alarm bells should have rung when asked if we were going to a movie! We didn’t encounter great customer service, basically ignored by the young waitress when she walked passed our table and waited a long time for our food. My husbands’ pizza was average, my pasta dish had obviously been prepared earlier and warmed up in the microwave – bubbles on my tomato-based sauce, great pool of water at the bottom of my dish. Never asked how we were doing or if we wanted more drinks. We high-tailed out of there after we paid extraordinary prices for a basic meal I could have prepared at home. Increase your customer service skills and get more staff in to help
Setting is very authentic italian and the location is great. This is somewhere we always stop by when we pass through Tauranga. We always get the same Pizza and it’s stayed quite consistent except one time it was a little over cooked. It’s pricey and you’ll have to wait but I feel like it’s worth it. I just wish the owners were more friendly, such potential..
Good wholesome meals, great service and hospitality. We had entree sized meal as we were off to the movies. Recommend if you want a nice homemade Italian food.
Still great food pasta/ pizza. Service with a smile from Mr Pizza man would make the atmosphere a little more friendly but maybe Italians are intense characters.Food 4/5Service 2.5/5 (when leaving)
Fantastic restaurant, lovely quaint atmosphere and wonderful food. It’s not a restaurant to go to if your in a hurry, it’s a take your time kind of place as it’s a husband and wife team and they run the whole show together. It’s a favorite that we go back to time and time again and it never disappoints.
