Took my partner here for her birthday dinner , place was packed we got seated pretty much straight away, staff were very polite , we ordered and 20mins later food came out which was very fast , food was good and tasty, we would of gave this rating a 5 but my partner said she had to much bbq sauce all over her ribs and it was all over the potatoes and coleslaw , other then that my lamb was cooked perfect very happy with the meal thank you

We came to Lone Star on a busy Friday night, we were greeted promptly upon arrival and although we didn’t have a booking, the maître de was lovely and we were seated at the bar for a drink while we waited for a table which took less than 15 minutes. Our waitress Eva was fantastic – efficient, friendly and personable. We ordered the loaf to start and panicked when it arrived without the garlic butter on the side. Turns out the garlic butter now came inside the loaf, and it was absolutely delicious, even better than our high expectations. For mains I had a starter size squid and mashed potatoes and my partner had the ribs (photos were taken half way through eating, but the meals are huge!). Potatoes were amazing and buttery, squid was good, however the ribs were a little dry and the only reason this review is a 4. Everything else was a 5! Great atmosphere and outstanding service from all staff. Thanks Lone Star!

Walked in off the street, no booking, on a Friday evening and got a table outside. Friendly service and the meal was delicious. We both had roast lamb and it just fell apart!

2.0 for Fletcher’s service. He was our wait staff. Service is very fantastic. He offered the choices and came to check on us regularly. The chef was nice and awesome. I ordered medium rare, but received rare steak. The chefprovided me a new steak. Thats a good quality management! However, the food was very expensive and not worth it really. We had rib eye steak, cajun chicken and sirloin. The cajun was okay. The sides dont complement the steak, doesnt add up to each other. Aweful combination. The salad dressing destroyed the flavor of steak.

The food is nice the staff are friendly, it can be quite loud as the tables are packed quite tight, the price for what you get isn’t the best for Tauranga but still enjoyable. Would recommend if you have older family members who aren’t very adventurous.

Lone Star is definitely one of our favourite American steakhouse.Love their characteristic rustic country styled decor and ambiance.Husband enjoyed the short baby ribs, which was cooked till tender, and well marinated. Their chicken dish never disappointed – my favourite one is the chicken stuffed with cheese, mushroom. Their coleslaw is also super tasty tossed in this peanut sauce. For vegetarians, they also have this very yummy campfire burrito, served with potatoes that are golden and crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. We sometimes come here just for desserts. The Jack Daniel’s chocolate fudge pudding is super rich and chocolatey. Definitely recommend the ‘moro bar cheesecake’, and the ‘milky bar pudding’, which is white chocolate & buttemilk flavoured, served with this hot and creamy butterscotch sauce. Just heavenly!

I’ve seen some pretty negative reviews here but they sound a bit biased. I think Lone Star was fine. Their service was a bit slow but average, not dismal, and their food was definitely not terrible. My friends were very excited about their wrap while my brunch was average, again, but not terrible. I plan to go again to try the dinner options.
