They don’t call this restaurant daawat for no reason, lady behind the counter could not understand our english, butter chicken did not even taste like butter chicken, is unlike any butter chicken I have ever eaten before and not in a good way. very unpleasant experience, would not buy here again.
Ok, where to start, I love Indian food, it is my favourite. I could not be bothered to drive all the way into town to the good one with the good reviews so we went here as a family of four.We live not far from Sandringham in Auckland where there is really good ethnic Indian food. So I am used to a high standard of food.First off, parking out side so that was good.Walked straight in and was like wow, no one cares about this place, just not that clean, everything was a bit shabby.Second, the guy behind the counter was worried and did not want to be there, Three, the food was ready in 10-15 Min’s like he said.Four the guy serving the food(takeaway) was pleasant and nice.Five, OK this is the serious part. It was the worst tasting, looking bland blah foul Indian we have ever had.The rice just smelled bad like it was cooked in dirty water, I’m not kidding. The curries a Korma and a Vindaloo were just rubbish, no flavour in terms of depth or spice or craft, the colours were all wrong and it was all thin and runny like soup.Six the naan breads were just fantastic, elastic, strong, breakable chewy, tough and soft all at the same time. They were the naan breads i dream of finding. Hopefully the curry was a bad day but methinks not, I suspect the Naan’s are made of site (common practice)I would only recommend going here if your desperate or to see if they can improve on this review, you know it’s bad when you sign in to write a review.Over and out.
