The rice of sushi nigiri was falling apart when I used chopsticks to hold it. I’m Asian and good with chopsticks, it must be the chef’s problem.…

Could not recommend this place enough!! Super friendly staff, and they were so helpful catering to my dietary needs and special requests. Will most definitely be back!!Thank you to all the staff for a pleasant experience
We came here on Tuesday, when the ‘all you can eat’ was going on. It was $38 per person, and my group ended up being split up since it was a rather large group. Staff were super accommodating and we were brought a plate of misc. fried foods really quickly, and they were almost too quick with cleaning up our finished plates because we wanted to keep track of how much we ate haha. I would definitely recommend going to the ‘all you can eat’ if you want to try out a lot of things. There were a lot of ‘unique’ kinds of sushi there that were nice to try that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise, like a doritos flavour, chicken nugget, and raw octopus. Surprisingly, the dessert they provided was really good. My favourite dish was probably the vegetable tempura.
This is our favorite Sushi Train on the South Island, it is also the only one. We have visited Sushi Trains regularly when we lived in Sydney, some 10 years ago. The food is always fresh and the selection is fantastic. If there is any Sushi you cannot find on the train, ask the staff, and the chef will prepare it for you. We have tried a few of the deserts, they are fantastic too. The staff is very fast and friendly and although they are mostly Asian, they do speak English very well. I’d be happy to recommend Kumo to anyone who likes Sushi. I would estimate that you would pay between $20 and $30 per person, if you are hungry.
Had lunch at Kumo with my son today. It was quite busy but we were seated around the back in front of the sushi train. Its such a great fun way to eat with lots of variety. Quite pricey for a lunch but because it is good quality, fresh and delicious, I would do it again. I had 4 plates and my son had 6. Using the entertainment book brought down the price a little. Because it was busy, the people seated in the booth in front of us seemed to be forever looking in our direction, in fact they were looking at the train which seperated our seats. The only other negative is the well worn chopsticks, they are the plastic variety and you can feel the worn edges when eating. Great staff and very attentive
Dropped in to try my first sushi train with my daughter. Lots of fun and good variety of dishes. Was also impressed with the dessert selection. I ordered miso soup and sashimi off the menu. Will be back.
High end sushi train with interesting fusions. Ate 10 plates for myself in total, one of which was a nacho flavoured sushi which was surprisingly yum.All other sushi was great and dessert was lovely.Would recommend for celebrations, not a family environment
I tried the beef tataki, the deep fried chicken, the prawn balls, and the mango chicken. All the food tasted good but I think the prawn balls were my favourite. I love the idea of the food train but after a while you wish the train would just hurry up and at a certain point you give up on the train and order from the waitress. The wait staff were easy to flag down and they were all friendly and polite.Unfortunately I didn’t get the opportunity to try the dessert I wanted. There were a couple floating around the train but when it came to dessert time the ones I wanted were absent. I asked the waitress and she said once the desserts were gone there were only the other ones on the menu. So if you see a dessert you want I would recommend grabbing it and putting it aside until you want to eat it.I’m not sure this is a vegetarian friendly kind of place – most of the dishes have fish and seafood.
