Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning, we were the only people in the restaurant which for a place like this is understandable. I ordered the big breakfast and would have to say it was very nice.. slightly pricey however.
We had our work Christmas function at Rosebank last night .Setting was nice Food was terrible: No Christmas theme at allserving spoons weren’t to be found so you had to use rubber tongs from one dish to anotherlarge boiled sausagestomatoes and big chunks of mozzarella cheeseChicken dish was half cooked and bland unusual tasteSalad consisted of large lettuce leaf and cut up eggs no salad dressingand bread rolls like rocks if i was asked what was the nicest part of the meal it was the roasted lamb roasted ( well I think it was lamb)I have eaten at a lot of different restaurants and this was absolutely the worst.
Having returned from here, I felt I must post a review to show my dissatisfaction with the entire evening. We booked for a group of 20 people and were told that there was another group of 34 booked in that wanted to be dining by 7:45pm so therefore, we had to be seated at 6pm. As we had children in the group, we agreed with this time.We were all seated in a ‘U’ shaped table which was completely useless as we need to either get up from our seats to converse with family, or yell across the tables. Totally ridiculous to have this configuration when we were the only group in this area. As there was this large group, we were told that we were getting the shortened menu? On this shortened menu, there were 6 options, but only 4 were available.Entrees and mains came out fairly promptly and my main of steak was very tasty, however, came with a side order of Human Hair !As it was a family member’s special birthday, I did not want to create a fuss so decided not to say anything at the time. My Brother-in Law enquired why I had not finished my meal, so I told him. He complained to the wait staff, who quickly came over and apologised. He offered me a complimentary beverage but no mention of a refund or half price meal. We then witnessed the staff getting a ‘dressing down’ from the management at the bar, which was not a good look.As it was a special occasion, we had brought our own cake, but were told when we brought it in, that we were going to be charged $1 per slice to cut it, and then a further $2 surcharge each to put in on plates. They totally ruined the surprise of the cake and we ended up eating the cake from paper napkins.Dessert Menu came out and guess what, the one dessert that was requested, was unavailable. The dining area was unbearably hot as there was no Air Conditioning anywhere that we could see, and we couldnt have the sliding doors opened as it was too windy. All my family were constantly fanning themselves to keep cool. I went to pay for my meal and again, bar staff apologised for my meal. I received my single non alcoholic drink for free. When my family went to pay for their meals, the waiter told them that if I had of told them of the hair in my food when it happened, then my meal would have been free !! Why was this not mentioned to me when I paid? All in all, this was a terrible experience and will not be repeating again, nor would I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Well what an awful dining experience at this poor excuse for a winery. Food was bland and boring, very disappointing. The place itself has probably been open since the early 80’s and it hasn’t had a cent spent on it since then. Definitely won’t be returning.
I found the staff to be very accommodating, and the setting was very beautiful, however the main course let it down completely. The lunch main ~ Presentation was uninteresting and non eventful and it was very bland in taste, which was very disappointing. I did however find then Pavlova dessert to be very well presented and absolutely yummy. I would certainly go back just for the pavlova desert and coffee!!
To Rustyfrog, I was also dining last night and was also appalled…. however my frustration was not towards the staff but was towards your table. The behaviour of your table was absolutely disgusting and frankly childish. I would think that adults would be able to cope with situations like ’late meals’ more appropriately, instead of having tantrums, swearing loudly and interupting other diners. We had a Delicious meal and my steak was cooked perfectly. I have visited Rosebank on many occasions this year and still would speak very highly of this venue. Later on I found out we had the same waitress at yours and I would like to personally thank her for her wonderful service, perhaps this table was just to hard to please??
Our son was married at Rosebank Winery in March 2011 just after the new owners had reopened the establishment. We found the owners and staff excellent to deal with and they went out of their way to make the wedding and reception a great time all round. The food was excellent and so was the service. We returned in Sept 2011 for lunch and received the same great food and service. Reviews prior to March 2011 may have been disappointing but under the new management this place is awesome.
