I’ve been to the restaurant mostly during the lunch time hours. The staff members are lovely and once you are settled eating the staff members always ask how the food is. I think it is good of them to ask clients how they are enjoying what they are eating as it lets them know how their food is. I really love the restaurants lunch time specials!
Our local Indian takeaway, which the fam is absolutely loyal to – the mango chicken dish in particular. A whole spectacle of fantastic vegetarian classic Indian dishes on offer too. Would reccomend the mixed starter but in particular the lamb pieces. Admittedly have no idea as to how traditional the dishes are, but I find them delicious. Consistently good service!
This is my local Indian restaurant/takeaway.I struggle a little with NZ Indian takeaways and restaurant having lived in the UK for so long (where they’re all pretty much exceptional with lots of choice). But this place is the closest thing I’ve found to the UK curry experience – dishes with lots of flavour, beautifully cooked, friendly staff, well worth a visit.Special mention must be made of their incredible lunch offers – for $10 you can get a curry, rice and a naan – and a decent selection to choose from – a giveaway!
Went here on Saturday night and loved it! THe food was great, very authentic. The naans are huge so listen to the wait staff when they say you wont need a whole naan each! The menu has so much choice I couldn’t believe it too which is great if you are fussy, or in the mood for something specific. We had onion bhajis to start and they are well worth the money. You get 4 big bhajis for $6 and they are indeed big and very tasty. Everyone I was with loved their meals and said they would definitely return. The only complaint I would say is that the restaurant is very small so when people come in to pick up or order takeaway, they squeeze between you and the person at the next table which gets annoying after 4 times of having to pull your chair in! And it is cold in winter when the door opens as the place is small so the cold fills the whole room!Other than that we all loved it and would definitely return!
I’ve only visited this restaurant twice, and as much as I like to visit anywhere more often before proffering a review, I feel it is time. Dare I suggest I know Indian food and its many regional variations and especially its homecooked iterations where the REAL Indian food happens better than many. I continue to despair at the extraordinarily limited as well as rich, creamy and sweetened Indian cuisine presented in NZ as canonical. Nothing could be farther from the truth for a cuisine which is as regionally varied and specialised as any nation on the planet. And yet as much as I acknowledge the timidity of kiwi diners, I salute restaurants which gently and incrementally stretch the palates they encounter. Indian Fendalton is not such a place, as much as I might recognise that this is exactly the way most want it. In this instance, this restaurant does just fine and if this all you want or know, so much the better.Indian Fendalton as most anywhere offers all the favourite Anglicised Punjabi and New World Indian stock standards but in a cosy, pleasingly funky atmosphere with good service. However low my expectations yet wishing for more, I must but criticise their food for lacking a certain care, subtlety, loving attention to detail and most especially time when braising/stewing the cheap cuts of meat reasonably if ineffectively employed for their purpose. If you want the stock standards of kiwi-ised Punjabi cuisine and this is your nearest eatery, then this restaurant will serve you well.
Fan-tastic!OK, the chicken tikka entree was average, but the chicken jalfezi main was unbelievably good. This was just bags of flavour on top of even more flavour. And the main size was such that the entree was not needed (and I do tend to eat too much!!)The restaurant is quite small, and the tables tightly packed, but not intrusive. Wine is very reasonably priced, and in god-sized serves. The staff are very polite and attentive. Will I be back? Hell, YES.
Have eaten here a number of times. Intimate an cozy restaurant well presented. Hospitality vibrant Complements to the chef on exquisite delightful dishes. Very authentic flavours. Beautiful hand-made paintings very coloured full. Great time, we will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone.
