We enjoyed our meals here. The service was polite and water was brought to the table. The decor is a nice modern style, but I feel like it’s lacking in the Indian cultural vibe. Food was full of flavour and was tasty.

So far, out of all the Indian restaurants that I have tried in chch, this is the only place I did not like..I am a fan of butter chicken and vindaloos, and using these dishes as a indicator to judge the quality, I will say that I wasn’t impressed. As for ambience and service- it was OK.. I would rate it overall 2.5/5

Very basic but pleasant and clean decor, friendly staff that are attentive and delicious food. Not the best in Chch but it certainly was very good, would go back! Also a mega plus is that it’s BYO and it’s in the entertainment book.

This place in the city centre serves great Indian food. The ambience has kept pace with modern times and the quality of food is great. The staff is overall friendly and courteous. Will go again.

Been here a few times since they opened. A bit hit and miss for me. Ordered lamb shish kebab. Large portion size and reasonably spicy. More than enough for one person. Suggest it’s a shared entree to be honest. For mains I got khadai chicken and the better half got the mango chicken. They both looked similar due to the ever present red food colouring used extensively in many Indian restaurants around the world. Anyhow khadai was OK. Same with the mango chicken. Tried a mint infused paratha bread for a change rather than the standard naan I usually get. It was a bit dry and burnt but a nice flavour all the same!!! We will go back again but there are many other Indian restaurants around where the quality is a bit more consistent.

My absolute favourite place for Indian in Christchurch. The restaurant is small but well laid out, modern and clean, albeit a little too dimly lit. They have a great selection of curries and generous portions to boot. I’m partial to the chicken korma but the palak kofta is a must-try as well.Takeaways are no fuss and timely, and a little bit cheaper than dining in when ordering through the website which works a treat on mobile– always a plus.I’d highly recommend Himalaya to anyone who’s curious; good food and friendly service all around.

The Makhni Chicken served here is just outstanding. I keep intending to try something else but the thought of the Makhni Chicken flavours is just irresistible! Service is good and fast. This is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Christchurch.
