Resturant was warm, not busy, the one staff member we met was friendly.Lasagne was delicious unfortunately garnished with just lettuce which was not nice lettuce. The other main was fish of the day tastey dish but too busy with seafood and vegetables were tasteless and over cooked.Good selection of wines / Chianti was very nice.
Hi we went to this restaurant for an Italian evening, I have a soft spot for good Italian food. But the Milanese is like a food court quality of food. In fact I think a mall food court could be better. Also watch out on the Grabone deal, to get your 50% discount there is only one pasta dish up at the price to achieve the full discount – the seafood one and guess what I am not keen on seafood. Pizzas well you can not get anywhere near the 50% discount. Do not order salad thats extra. When I questioned Grabone they did not want to know.To make matters worse when I questioned the bill the waitress behind the counter had already loaded up the EFTPOS machine and paywave took my money anyway.
I don’t like the look of the menu online, it comes across as very cheap. The venue is nice, good for big groups of people. I tried the Mousse for dessert, I wasn’t overly sold by it – it was too cocoa-y. The food is waaaay overpriced for what it is so if you get an entree, main, dessert and a few drinks expect to be paying an arm and a leg.
Nice food and atmosphere. Good service. Seafood marinara is delicious, very nice sauce. Three cuts of lamb with red wine sauce is also very delicious with mushrooms and roast veges .
If you like Italian inspired pub food, this is the place to go! Pastas so covered in fatty oil and pizza with bases that came from a supermarket. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
We’ve been here several times and always had good service, good wholesome food with generous servings. Fantastic host / chef who works the floor and is very entertaining. All good stuff.
Located at the back of a fresh fruit produce shop in ShandsRd this Restaurant just surprisingly showed me what I’ve been missing in goodflavoursome food and dining experience. You walk through the double doors intoa small foyer then into a restaurant with white walls, Gold framed picturesfrom must be Italy and music that’s soothing. Tables are dark wood, Very sturdyand comfortable high back black chairs. A Chalk Board framed with their specials andone side of the restaurant dedicated to booths for your eating pleasure. Thisis the first restaurant I have been to that does not cram tables in next toeach other. There is plenty of space between the tables that gives the diningexperience that little something that every other restaurant I thinklacks. There is plenty of space forPrams and wheelchairs without anyone feeling conscious about being in the way.The service was splendid. We were greeted by a cheerful manwho welcomed us in his clean black chef uniform. We had two young waitressesthat were friendly, efficient and very pleasant. We were advised of the Specials and offereddrinks that arrived just after. The Latte had a roasted bean taste as opposedto a burnt taste and the drinks were served chilled with ice. We ordered: A Caramelised Onion and Blue Cheese Pizza Bread& Calamari (Lightly floured and pan fried with roasted Tomatoes, olives andin a balsamic reduction) as Entrees. For mains we ordered the pasta special of:Raviollini Pumpkin and Ricotta filling with a sundried tomato and Mustard sauce& A Penne Pollo Poiselli (Smoked Chicken with Red onions, peas & garlicin a cream sauce) regular size for both (as we always share our plates). Forour sides we ordered an Isolata casa (Mixed salad with olives, tomatoes, cucumber and red onion) and a bowl of fries. (Usually we order this as a top upor just in case dish). We later accompanied this with desserts: Panna Cotta anda Mousse di Cioccolata limone Con Bacche (Chocolate Mousse with lemon Curd) anda take away Tiramisu. Yes that’s right they also offer take away services fororder and pick up! So we ordered a dessert to take home to our mum to taste asshe loves Tiramisu. All the food was outstanding. We asked for them to bring itas it’s and we don’t mind what order. It all came out together within 15 minutes;the food looked well-presented and well dressed. The oil on the salad andCalamari was enough that it coated the food instead of it sitting in a pool ofoil which was a huge bonus flavour wise. All dishes were perfectly balanced andhad just the perfect amount of ingredients to have the same experience in eachmouthful. Each dish had its own flavour combination that was just so well done.I can admit at this time the chips never got eaten but we took everything homefor our whanau.Recommended dishes: Blue Cheese lovers must taste the caramelisedOnion and Blue Cheese pizza Bread. The Calamari because it is the only calamaridish I’ve had that has a difference from every other place and It works sowell. Both pastas were good but the highlight for me…. the desserts. The Pannacotta was just perfection! The wobble was that amazing and the spoon just slidethrough it. It was as smooth as the word smooth. It was light and creamywithout the heaviness. The rich chocolate mousse was next level as far asMousse is concerned. The fresh berries mixed into the mousse and The Lemon curdjust took it to another level of flavour way beyond any mousse I’ve had and theTiramisu was perfect. The rum flavour was perfect enough to have the cream withit that it danced in your mouth. It was so well balanced. I give top marks tothe chef and the staff because they deserve it. Milanese is differently ahidden treasure in Christchurch and I will differently be returning.
