Magnificent dining experience. I’ve been to several Lone Stars around the country, but not enjoyed myself as much as this. Yes, it’s on the pricey side, at least if you can’t finish the GIGANTIC portions. Yes, the music (though awesome) is too loud. But the staff were wonderful, the food arrived in a reasonable time, substitutions were accepted with no hassles, they don’t look at you funny for sharing a main, there’s an outdoor seating area in case you happen by on a non-windy day, and they have a loyalty app. Lots of parking, wheelchair friendly with no kerbs.Mum and I shared The Chief’s Chicken Nibbles as a starter. We don’t usually do starters, I just felt like some chicken wings, so we were careful not to fill up on them and in fact took several home (markedly inferior reheated). I asked for the sauce on the side in case I didn’t like it. As it happened, the sauce was fine, but I didn’t have much because I didn’t think it added anything; the flavouring on the nibbles themselves was delicious in its own right. We shared the Kiwi Joker (Rockin’ Ribeye plus eggs and mushrooms). HUGE steak, I didn’t think we’d conquer it, but Mum was a trooper and took up the slack. The fried eggs were fine, the mushrooms divine. Steak was requested medium, and as expected for such a large piece it did have a well-done end and a medium-rare end, but was mostly medium and all delicious. I couldn’t taste any red wine in the beef & red wine jus, but it was okay, perhaps a bit sweet. We neither of us cared for the serious sweetness of the sauteed onions, but they were easily avoided. We subbed the buffalo chips for straight-cut chips (excellent) and the coleslaw for seasonal vegetables (long-stemmed broccoli, courgette, peas). It was nice to find a selection of mocktails on the drinks menu. I ordered a Juice Newton for $9, which was beautiful, delicious, and probably slightly better for me than a dessert. Will defo return.
