The service could be comical but in the early morning hours with a flight looming it was hard to see the funny side. Three times they stuffed up our coffee order. Once they tried to argue the toss, although what they’d written on the order pad was clearly what I said and not what they served. They gave us a table number – even with no other people in the shop. Even then we had to go back to the counter to collect. A request for additional hot water was served in a tiny, flimsy paper cup that was too hot to hold. The coffee was nothing special. Seriously needing of some basic staff training.
Compared to their competitor opposite them, Underground can make coffee a lot faster. BUT their coffee is always on the weak side and most of the time very milky. Sometimes when you order coffee from them, the staff filled the cup so full that as soon as you take your first sip, the front of your body will be covered with coffee spills. Super annoying. Cabinet food was boring and tasted what you would expect to get from a super market cabinet. Why is is so hard to find somewhere that makes good coffee at the airport?!!
Stopped here twice when at the airport for coffee and cabinet food. Have lava cake here today. Staff and service is very good and always heaps of seating available.
Good variety of hot food and cabinet cakes and salad, I had a Large mocha which was more like a hot chocolate but a very nice hot chocolate so I don’t mind the weak coffee shot, for lunch I had a large salad bowl and picked 4 of the 6 salads on offer there were just okay Beetroot feta salad was nice lacked feta though, broccoli almond salad was tasty as well as the pasta salad however the chicken Thai salad was just Thai noodles with abit too much fish sauce or salt and I got no chicken the spice was good, overall satisfied with a slight chicken envy.
I’ve only had their iced drinks – the iced coffee and iced mocha. The iced coffee was delicious and their iced mocha was even better. The iced mocha isn’t on their menu but when I asked they were very accommodating and made it happily for me. Every time I stop by Christchurch and have some time, I can’t help but grab myself a drink. Service was pretty good too but from what I’ve seen, their cabinet food unfortunately doesn’t look too appealing.
This is a well fitted out airport coffee bar. Well lit and plenty of communal tables with high stools. Layout is appropriate for busy airport junctions and plenty of standing room if you wait for takeaway coffees. Selection was moderate but beats the Koru lounge. I was only after a oj but was tempted by a piece of cheesecake. It wasn’t a disappointment and was very light not too sweet despite being mango flavoured. Fresh and base held together well. Good sized slice so my overall experience was excellent. Not a big milky coffee drinker so didnt overrate the outlet as 5. I find koru overly vegetarian everything so rather buya snack than be disappointed and trapped in the lounge.
Always a great place for a coffee and snack before a flight. They can be on the pricy side but that’s to be expected at a premium outlet at an airport.
