Went on a busy night but we endured. I ordered the mushroom sauce Porterhouse with chips and salad, my fiance’ ordered the Angus triple stack burger and the garlic bread. Honestly ? The food was average. The garlic bread was good. The steak was medium and not medium rare, my fiance’s burger had too much mustard and the buns weren’t even toasted and the burger cost us $30! A bit disappointed but it isn’t the worst place to eat. Service was ok despite it being very busy which was nice. On another note, try the parmageddon on Wednesday. That one was worth it !
Bar service was exceptional,bar manager was an absolute pig,I’ve worked in 4 star hotels all over the uk and if I behaved in the way that he did just recently I promise you I would have got an instant dismissal for my troubles simple manners and communication is a simple thing and not much to ask for when you have been spending money in an establishment all night like $150-$200,,the kiwi menu is an unique and beautiful cuisine (especially love the lamb) but uneducated brutes like my mate there doesn’t do New Zealand tourism any favours
Have been coming here regularly for 4-5 years now and would have previously considered it an average place to eat and drink, but since the change in ownership later last year there have been significant improvements from structural refurbishments, the restructured menu, and the friendly staff with great customer service (being a regular also helps). Having been more willing to try the food from the upgraded menu I have enjoyed and would recommend the meat lovers and breakfast (amazing) pizza as well as the chicken and boss burgers as well as the crunchy ice cream cake for dessert, with the bar snacks (fries, seafood basket etc) considered satisfying. Will definitely continue to come here, would also recommend ignoring any reviews made pre-change in ownership and change in restaurant to the One Good Horse.
Great! We had a meal there this week. I had the chicken in filo stuffed with cream cheese and spinach. Served with side salad and chips. Far too much for me, so I took half the chicken home. Hubby had aged rib eye steak, which was cooked to perfection, and really enjoyed. With 4glasses of wine cost $82.00 so not an expensive meal, by some standards. Staff were great, and apologised that the meals took a little while to arrive as the chicken is cooked from fresh. Not an issue to me as the chicken was not overdone. We will be back
21st birthday held here. Venue has been tastefully done up. Included outside area for smokers. Staff very pleasant. The food was great. Had delicious cooked ham on bone, rolls, spring rolls, pizza and misc nibbles. We hired our own DJ and had our own area which worked great. Drinks reasonably priced. Very hard to fault!
The beef wellington I had here was quite nice but the vegetables on the side were a bit of a let down. Perhaps a nicer side dish would make the overall meal nicer. But the service was great. Very attentive and friendly waitress!
Wow! What can I say? Extremely disappointed. After reading the 1st 2 pieces of feedback tried to avoid but after reading the last comment thought we should give it a go. All I can tell you is the 3rd comment must have been to a different restaurant, the service was dreadful, the food may be called average, and received a meal we had never ordered instead of a meal we had ordered? The worst part is they then argued with us, claiming we had ordered that meal. Would never go to the place again and have warned all my friends and family not to waste there time and money. Also went for a drink beforehand at the tavern, and can you believe I purchased a beer without having a word said to me by the bartender, seems his regulars were more interesting? Disgusted.
