Dined here one day after New Years with our wee family – we had fisherman’s basket, chowder and salt pepper squid shared between us three and it was all very good. The service was efficient and the atmosphere was great. We’ll be back!

Went here for dinner last night and had an excellent meal! We had a wonderful table looking over the port and into the harbour, the food came out quickly and was excellent, we could not fault it. We will definitely be back!

A group of 6 of us came to fisherman’s wharf on Sunday for dinner. We all ordered different seafood dishes and every dish was delicious. The fish was fresh and well cooked, as were the sides. The flavours were perfect, so were the portions. The paua dumplings and herb crusted butter fish (special of the day) were the winners of the night, but overall everything was great. Staff were so lovely and attentive.

I was after some seafood for dinner and this place came up. It’s not actually in the main centre, it’s a short 15-20min drive outside Christchurch. This lovely bowl of seafood chowder kept me warm during my night in Christchurch.A fisherman’s classic, mix of fresh fish, prawns, mussels, shrimp, squid and vegetables in a cream volute served with a slice of garlic bread. This was one bowl of comfort soup. Creamy and chunky full of seafood goodness. Added a small squeeze of lemon and voila, the perfect soup. For mains I couldn’t resist the crispy skin salmon. The salmon skin wasn’t crispy unfortunately and it was over cooked and the veggies that accompanied the dish were not steamed for long enough, they were still very crunchy! I couldn’t actually eat all the veg as it was too difficult to cut through them. It was a hit and miss experience from here overall.

Went here today with my husband and best friend from Texas. My husband ordered ‘Catch of the day’ and my friend ordered ‘Blue cod with chips and salad’. I had a banana milkshake as I wasn’t feeling too well. Chips were apparently nice and crisp and hot and salad somewhat fresh. About half way through eating his fish my husband pulled out a long black hair that seemed to be entwined into the actual batter. I was disgusted and told him to show the staff. He took another bite then there was another hair longer than the first one and that was all entwined in the batter. At this stage I took the plate up myself and showed the staff. They were very apologetic and took the lunch off our bill. One thing for me is I have a very, very large intolerance to hair or anything foreign found in my food – so Fisherman’s Wharf – I will never be going back. Also I noticed the male cook using his hands all the time placing food into the batter and out of the batter with no gloves. I should’ve known better when I first saw that. Also over priced for what we got. All in all not a nice experience and a waste of a trip over to Lyttleton.

We have visited this place several times and it is always wonderful, especially if you love seafood. The hospitality is warm and friendly. You can come just as you are. The views of the port are lovely too. Great wee spot in Lyttleton. It’s worth the drive out.

Had a great lunch here with family, great menu with well cooked, well presented fresh seafood, and the wait staff were lovely. Will definitely be back to dine again.
