Our family have been patronising this establishment for over ten years, love the restaurant locationover looking the fabulous garden setting, we have always had great food and waiting staff are generally polite and friendly, some times service can be a little drawn out, quality of chef prepared meals are excellent, watch the peppering on steaks, can be heavy with whole peppers in sauce.Deserts are loved by the ladies, pricing for lunch is realistic, dinner can be double in cost.Always enjoyed, never left hungry, soups are the best in Chch.
Staff are very courteous and professional. Ambience is nice if you’re looking for somewhere quiet and simple. The views from the restaurant looking into the hotel’s grounds are very calming. Food is the best aspect here! I started with the beetroot ravioli, which was presented very prettily and which I found filling. A nice subtle flavour of beetroot! Went on with the blue cod fish and chips, asked for the half portion but this is very generously portioned, with two medium sized fillets. Less well presented, and a bit hard to manage with the salad and fries barely hanging on to the plate beneath the fish. Still, a yummy, simple Kiwi meal on a winter evening!
Great food, ambience and service. Very pleased we tried this resto. Tip: come in while the sun is still up so you can really appreciate the beauty of the gardens.
Not entirely impressed with the service. Very slow even though we arrived at a very quiet time. Very lack lustre, the waitresses looked like they would rather be elsewhere. The food was average and overpriced, thankfully we came in via a first table booking. I wouldn’t recommend this place, it’s boring and you’ll be disappointed. At least the desserts were okay.
Cassidy – we had lunch at the Garden Court Brasserie on a Sunday afternoon. We were able to be seated without a reservation, but it was quite loud in there as there was a function/large lunch party also dining. I ordered the Chateau Club Sandwich. It was pretty basic, but was nice and generous in size. I found the wait staff to be lovely, very attentive and friendly, and even let us use a back entrance to create a shorter walking distance for one of our guests. We also tried a beef burger via room service, and I enjoyed this too. I found the bun to have a nice crunch to it and the chips were good.Sneakers – at lunch I was fairly hungover so I tried the fruit platter from the dessert menu. The fruit platter was tasty although it was 50% melons. I like watermelon, don’t get me wrong, but honey melon and rock melon have no place on a fruit platter. I also had half of the burger and found it to be quite tasty. The restaurant staff were very friendly – my glass of water was never less than a third full due to extremely diligent waiters. Having said that I only wish the rest of our stay at the hotel would have been as good but that’s a different story.Cleanliness of the restaurant – 9/10Cleanliness of plates/cutlery/glasses – 9/10Cleanliness of the menus – 8/10Service – 9/10Wait time for food – averageFood overall – 7.5/10Ambience – 5/10Value for money – 8/10
Wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back, staff where sour, unfriendly. Meal presentation was poor, could have done better myself. Tables too close together very little room to move and was not busy so didn’t see why.
